Nestled in the western part of the French Riviera is the small port of Toulon, a popular transportation hub for travellers. Pick up your Avis car rental at the Toulon Train Station and head off on your journey.

From the moment you arrive, Avis has got your car rental covered. Whether you fancy a supermini or hot hatch for an urban jaunt, an elegant saloon for a business trip or wedding, or a people carrier for a family holiday – your perfect hire car is standing by.

Your journey starts here.

Plan your journey from Toulon Train Station

From the Toulon Train Station, you’re already conveniently situated in Toulon town. Take the Rue Dumont d’Urville and Rue Adolphe Guiol for five minutes to reach the city centre. Having been occupied for over 3,000 years, Toulon is brimming with history and culture.

The town’s small harbour and promenade are two of its best attractions. There are also some great seafood restaurants, many cafes, and plenty of tourist shops. The statue of the Spirit of Navigation is here too, and the Tour de l’Horlage monumental clock pays tribute to the town’s naval history.

Around town there are many traditional markets, especially on Cours Lafayette, where plenty of local products can be found. Place Puget is the historical centre, and the fountain here, bought in the 1780s, is a must-see. Also worth visiting is the Cathédrale Sainte-Marie-de-la-Seds. The New Town is home to an Opera House and the Place de la Liberte – the town’s centre square. If you come during the winter months, you’ll find a Christmas market and a skating rink.

The stunning sights of Toulon await you. Make the most of your time in this region by hiring a car with Avis.

Beyond Toulon

Castles, coastline and more await you in the French region around Toulon.

La-Seyne-sur-Mer

La-Seyne-sur-Mer is a coastal town located 80 minutes from Toulon via the D559. Plage des Sablettes is a beautiful beach just a short distance from this town, boasting a long stretch of white sand and azure waters. Fort Balaguier is also worth seeing, sitting on the tip of Pointe de Balaguier overlooking the bay. Notre-Dame de Bon Voyage, the town’s cathedral, is another top attraction.

La Garde

Drive for one hour and 45 minutes via Avenue Louis Masson and you’ll arrive in La Garde. This picturesque town got its name ‘The Guard’ from its past, thanks to the castle here that belonged to the Bishops of Toulon. While only the castle’s chapel remains today, this sleepy French town is a perfect getaway for when you want to experience true rural France.

Mont Faron

Just 30 minutes north of Toulon is Mont Faron, which rises 600m from the ground and overlooks the surrounding countryside and the Mediterranean sea. You can hike up the mountain or take a cable car from Toulon. At its peak is a memorial to the 1944 Allied landings in Provence, and Toulon’s liberation.

Explore the Toulon region with your Avis hire car. All you have to do is drive.
