Rent a Car at Penas Blancas

Additional Liability (ALI) - Mandatory

Public liability and property damage coverage is not included in rates. Customers are required to purchase ALI with every rental. 

Provides protection for third party liability in case of bodily injury and/or property damage to a third party (excluding the renter and/or driver of the Avis vehicle), up to a maximum of approximately 15,000.00 USD per occurrence with a deductible of 3.000.00 USD. Includes Roadside assistance coverage.

Customer may be fully waived of this deductible with the purchase of LDW.

Cash rentals are not allowed.
All renters must have an Avis-honored charge card or debit card to rent a vehicle.

Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) is optional (taxable)

Purchase of LDW is optional (taxable). If LDW is purchased, the renter's liability of financial responsibility for damages in case of collision will be Zero.  The renter will be liable for the full value of the vehicle if loss damage waiver is not purchased.

Theft Protection (TP) is included with the purchase of Collision Damage Waiver.  If LDW is purchased, the renter's liability for theft of the vehicle will be reduced to 20% of the value of the vehicle.  (This does not cover robbery to parts of the car).  Global insurance coverages are always subject to change.  Please verify at time of rental.

Avis accepts the Avis Charge Card, American Express, MasterCard and Visa.  An additional charge card hold will apply ranging from 500.00 USD to 1,500.00 USD depending on the vehicle rented.

Debit cards are accepted, but with some restrictions. A debit card deposit it is required of a minimum amount of 600.00 USD to 1,500.00 USD or more, depending on the car confirmed. Additionally the rental must be prepaid at the counter. Vehicles with four-wheel drive are not allowed for rental with a debit card).

At the time of rental, the driver must present a valid driver's license in the driver's name from their country of residence. Customers presenting a driver's license in a non-roman alphabet must also present an International Driving Permit (IDP) to serve as a translation in addition to their valid driver's license.Please note that digital licenses will not be accepted and must be presented physically at the counter.

If the customer has a Nicaraguan driver's license than a special category 4B or 5 license is required for car group M (FVMR – 15 passengers).

Personal Accident Insurance (PAI)

It gives protection to Avis’s vehicle passengers. Refund of medical expenses up to an amount of 5000.00 USD, independently of the number of passengers in the rented vehicle that do not exceed the vehicle capacity.

Customer may inquire for additional information of the benefits, conditions and acceptance at the time of rental.

Public liability insurance is with in accordance of the insurance laws of the country. Public liability and property damage coverage is not included in rates.

Customers are required to purchase ALI (See ALI/SLI for information).

Note: Some credit cards provide insurance coverage, with certain limitations, as a benefit of using the card to rent vehicles. The customer is advised to contact the card issuer before the rental. Any waiver must be discussed directly with the location upon arrival.

At this location the minimum age is 25, renters 23-24 years will be charged an underage fee of 5.00 USD per day.  

Renters 71 or over will be charged an additional rental fee of rental fee of 5.00 USD per day.

Cars can be returned to other Avis locations within Nicaragua based on car availability.  Fees vary according to distance between locations and depending on car group rented. One way fees may also apply to any special equipment rented. Vehicles are not permitted to go one-way outside of Nicaragua.
