Optional Coverages

Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) is optional,except for renters between 21 and 25 it’s mandatory.
Customer is liable for full value of the Avis vehicle if Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) is not taken.  Purchase of CDW reduces liability to an amount of 2,000.00 USD for all car groups in the event of an accident to the Avis vehicle.  

Theft Protection (TP) is included in the purchase of CDW
Reduces the customer liability to 20% of the value of the rented vehicle.  Partial theft (accessories, parts, etc.) and theft which occurs due to customers negligence (not locking vehicle or securing keys) is not covered.

Note: If you require additional insurance coverage you may purchase locally to reduce/remove the insurance excess.  Just ask at the Avis rental desk when you collect your car.

Global insurance coverages are always subject to change. Please verify at time of rental.

Credit Card Policies

Avis Honduras accepts Avis Charge Cards, American Express / Optima, Diners Club, Discover Card, JCB, MasterCard, Visa. 

At the time of rental we will request an authorization on your charge card for the estimated rental charges. Plus a Security deposit will apply for any rental including prepaid rentals: Sedans - car groups B, C, D is USD 1200.00, SUV and Vans - car groups E, H, J, K, M, O is USD 1800.00, Pick up Truck - car groups F, I is= USD 1600.00. An additional fee may apply depending on purchase of LDW.


Debit Card Policies

Debit cards are not accepted.

Drivers License

At the time of rentals, the driver must present a valid drivers license in the drivers name from their country of residence.  Customers presenting a drivers license in a non-Roman alphabet must also present an International Driving Permit (IDP) to serve as a translation in addition to their valid drivers license..

Public Liability and Property Damage

Public liability insurance is in accordance with the insurance laws of the country.  Customer may inquire at the time of rental for additional information of the benefits, conditions and acceptance.

Note: Some credit cards provide insurance coverage, with certain limitations, as a benefit of using the card to rent vehicles.  The customer is advised to contact the card issuer before the rental.  Any waiver must be discussed directly with the location upon arrival.

Additional Fees

All vehicles at Avis Honduras are NON SMOKING, Up to USD 250.00 cleaning fees may apply

Age Requirements

 

The minimum age is 21. 
CDW and ALI is mandatory for renters between 21 and 25. 
The maximum age is 69.

Travel Into Other Countries

Cars are not permitted off the island of Roatan.

Cars from La Ceiba, San Pedro Sula and Tegucigalpa can be driven into El Salvador, Nicaragua and Guatemala. 

Service fees and permits are required-

  • Customer must allow 8 business hours to receive the permits.  
  • Advance notice is required and certain restrictions may apply. 
  • Check with the counter for additional details. 

One way rentals outside country are not permitted.
