Optional Coverages

Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) is Optional, except it is MANDATORY for renters under 25 years of age.
Purchase of CDW reduces renters financial responsibility (NWE) in case of damage to the Avis vehicle from accidents to an amount between 1,200.00 USD and 2,500.00 USD depending on car group rented. This coverage does not include loss of license plates, tow service, fines and loss of keys. A general note about insurance: Some credit cards provide insurance coverage, with certain limitations, as a benefit of using the card to rent vehicles. The customer is advised to contact the card issuer before the rental. Any waiver must be discussed directly with the location upon arrival. If accident occurs, card holder must contact his credit card company for reimbursement. Purchases of some protections are options are optional. The cost of the protections are not included in the Approximate total. Client must follow all driving conditions stated in our terms of service clauses, any infractions to the stated conditions voids this coverage. If CDW is declined, the renter is fully responsible for the full value of the Avis vehicle, in addition to stolen accessories, repairs and loss of use during repairs.  An additional credit card hold will apply.

Theft Protection (TP) is included in the CDW. 

Note:  If you require additional insurance coverage you may purchase locally to reduce/remove the insurance excess.  Just ask at the Avis rental desk when you collect your car.

Global insurance coverages are always subject to change. Please verify at time of rental.

Credit Card Policies

Avis El Salvador accepts Avis Charge Cards, American Express, Diners Club, Discover Card, Mastercard, Visa.  Credit card number, expiration date, and customers phone number required for SUV and Vans.  An additional charge card hold will apply.  Depending on car group the hold will range between 1,200.00 USD to 2,500.00 USD.

Digital cards are not accepted. Digital payments are not accepted: Apple Card, Visa Electron, Google Pay or any other digital payment. No Cell phone Cards or Credit Cards are accepted. No pre-paid Cards are accepted.


Debit Card Policies

Debit cards are not accepted.

Drivers License

At the time of rental, the driver must present a valid driver's license in the driver's name from their country of residence.  Customers presenting a driver's license in a non-Roman alphabet must also present an International Driving Permit (IDP) to serve as a translation in addition to their valid drivers license.

Public Liability and Property Damage

Public liability insurance is in accordance with the insurance laws of the country.  Customer may inquire at the time of rental for additional information of the benefits, conditions and acceptance.

Age Requirements

At this location the minimum age is 21 for all car groups.The maximum age is 75.  A Young Driver fee will apply to drivers between 21 and 24 years.  The Young Driver fee is 10.00 USD per day per driver. Purchase of CDW is mandatory for renters under 25 years of age.


Cancellations/No Shows

To be guaranteed, reservations for all car groups must include the customer’s charge card number, expiration date, billing address, email and phone number.
A no-show fee of 75.00 USD will apply if the reservation is cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice or if the customer does not rent the vehicle within 4 hours of the reserved time.

Fuel Policy

Not included in rates. A full tank of gas is provided at the time of rental and the vehicle should be returned with a full tank of gas to avoid additional charges. There are no refunds for unused gas.


Travel Into Other Countries

Cars can be returned to other Avis locations within this country based on car availability.  Vehicles are not available for one way rentals outside this country.
