How it Works:
Lock the vehicle and place the keys in the key drop box for After Hours Returns located in the return area. Don't forget to remove all your belongings from the vehicle prior to returning the keys.
A vehicle that is returned after hours will be checked in when the location opens the next business day. If returning after hours when a location is closed, the customer is responsible for the vehicle until the satisfactory check in of the rental vehicle the next business day.
AIRLINE PASSENGERS
Follow the airport ground transportation signs to the shuttle island area. The common airport shuttle bus operates every 5-10 minutes and will take you to the Rental Car Center on the northeast side of the airport. Upon arrival at the Rental Car Center, proceed inside to the Avis counter.
WALK-UP RENTERS
Follow airport signs for Rental Car Return. They will lead to the new Rental Car Center on the northeast side of the airport: 3355 Admiral Boland Way.
FROM INTERSTATE 5: Take the Sassafras St exit and turn west onto Sassafras St. Continue through the traffic signal at the Pacific Hwy/Sassafras intersection and folow signs to the Rental Car Center.
FROM PACIFIC HWY: Turn west onto Sassafras St and follow the signs to the Rental Car Center.
FROM POINT LOMA: Take North Harbor Dr past the airport terminals. Turn left at Laurel St, then left at Pacific Hwy. Turn left onto Sassafras St and follow signs to the Rental Car Center.
