• Retain your reservation confirmation number as it is necessary for modification, cancellation or no-show refund requests. Changes to your prepay reservation must be made either on Avis.com, Avis.com.au or Avis.co.nz or at the rental counter. At time of change, current rates, taxes and fees apply.
• Your credit or debit card will be charged upon reservation confirmation. Method of prepayment toward your rental may not be changed after confirmation.
• Debit cards are not accepted at some Avis locations and are not a recommended form of prepayment.
• While a debit or prepaid charge card is an acceptable form of rental prepayment online, they may not be accepted for the credit hold required when you pick up your vehicle.
• Please review the terms and conditions on our confirmation page regarding credit or debit card acceptance at the location. To release the vehicle to you at time of pick-up, all rental terms and conditions must be met, regardless of your original prepayment.
• Prepaid debit and gift cards are not acceptable methods of credit identification to pick up a vehicle at any location. One of the above mentioned cards must be presented. Prepaid debit and gift cards are accepted at time of return only.
• In the U.S., debit or check cards may be used at the end of the rental for payment of rental charges.
• The same credit or debit card used to complete an online Pay Now reservation must be presented at the rental pick-up counter as a form of identification. At airport locations, proof of a return airline ticket is also required when using a debit card.
• Generally, at the time of rental, we'll require a credit card hold of total estimated charges.  However, many rentals may require an authorization hold of the estimated rental charges plus $200 USD.  If you have prepaid with a debit card, the hold will be $250 USD. A prepaid charge card is not accepted for this required hold and in case of reservation with non US currency, a credit card with same currency of reservation with equivalent USD amount would be required.
• The card presented at pickup will be the card of record for the rental.
• If you use a debit card at a location that accepts them, we will perform a credit check to ensure worthiness before releasing the vehicle and you must also present a second form of current identification.
• Prepaid reservations are only offered at participating locations.
• Upon paying your rental with a debit card, Avis will generally request an authorization hold against your account for the estimated charges of the rental but reserves the right in its sole, discretion, to request extra value based on certain factors as we deem appropriate. Many rentals may require an authorization hold of the estimated rental charges plus $200 USD.  Rentals of 4 days or more may require an authorization hold of the estimated rental charges plus $300 USD. If you have prepaid with a debit card, the hold will be $250 USD. Some exceptions may apply. THESE FUNDS WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE FOR YOUR USE.
• If you selected Fuel Service Option, fuel price isn't included in your reservation total, but prevailing market rate will be added when you return your vehicle.
• Avis accepts most major credit cards as credit identification at the time of rental. Accepted credit cards: Avis Charge Card, American Express, AT&T Capital, Diner's Club Intl, Discover, China Union Pay, JCB, MasterCard, and Visa. Some locations may not accept each of the referenced cards.
• Coupons may be applied to prepay rentals. Vouchers or Avis rental certificates cannot be used in conjunction with a prepay reservation.
• Gift Cards (Avis or any other) are not allowed on prepay reservations.
• Most U.S. locations also accept bank debit cards with the Visa or MasterCard logo as credit identification at the time of rental if you are at least 25 years of age. In most cases, U.S. locations will perform a credit check for debit card renters to determine credit worthiness at the time of rental. The renter must meet Avis' minimum criteria in order to rent.
• When the rental is over, we will process the reversal but the bank may take time to post it back to the account - unless you already paid toward your rental, in which case the hold will be $250 USD. While this hold is in place, the funds will not be available for your use.
• Avis is not responsible for any returned checks or overdraft fees based on this policy.
• Your quoted rental rate is based on the exact parameters (locations, dates, etc.) of your particular rental - changing your confirmed reservation parameters could result in a different rate.
• There is no fee for making the following changes: vehicle type, options (GPS, protections, etc.), rental period dates/times, adding other drivers, switching between participating prepay pick-up locations within the same country. To change to a non-participating location or one outside of the original pick-up country, you must cancel your original reservation (with applicable cancellation fee) and re-book at then current rates.
• Non-permissible changes include: method of prepayment; name on reservation; changing your pick-up to a non-participating prepay location or one outside of the original pick-up country. If you still wish to make these changes, you must cancel your original prepay reservation with applicable cancellation fee and re-book at then current rates.
• At time of rental pick-up, location rental qualification rules apply. The name on all rental credentials (license and credit or debit card) must match the name on the reservation. If the names do not match, it is deemed a non-permissible change to your prepay reservation and must follow procedures to cancel and re-book at then current rates (with applicable cancellation or no-show fees).
• At the time of pick up, driver must present a valid driver's license and credit card (or debit card at participating locations) in the driver's name. A prepaid charge card is not an acceptable credential. All drivers must have a safe driving record.
• At time of pick up, driver must present a valid, drivers license and credit or debit card in the driver's name. If the drivers license is not U.S.-issued, you must present your drivers license and either a passport or a Canadian enhanced license in the driver's name.
• At the time of rental, the renter or authorized driver may be subj

La aceptación de la Exoneración en caso de pérdida o daños exime al cliente y a los conductores adicionales autorizados de la responsabilidad por la pérdida o el daño del vehículo de Avis, una vez que se satisfagan los términos y las condiciones que exhibe la funda del documento de alquiler. Al momento del alquiler, el cliente debe indicar con sus iniciales si acepta o rechaza la LDW y los servicios opcionales. Si no se acepta la LDW, el cliente es pecuniariamente responsable del valor total de:

• Daño por accidente
• Daño del vidrio
• Accesorios hurtados (radio, batería, etc.)
• Vandalismo
• Hurto del vehículo

Se le puede solicitar al cliente que muestre un comprobante de seguro, dependiendo de las políticas de la oficina y del estado.

Cancelación de LDW
Luego de adquirir la LDW, ésta debe permanecer en el contrato. El cliente tiene la opción de devolver el vehículo y terminar el contrato de alquiler; sin embargo, esto pudiera cambiar la tarifa del contrato de alquiler y pudiera aplicarse una tarifa diferente, posiblemente mayor, para un nuevo alquiler.

Lucro cesante
El cliente también puede ser responsable de reembolsar a Avis por el ingreso perdido al no poder usar el vehículo durante la reparación del mismo o al no recuperarlo debido a su hurto (lo que se denomina Lucro cesante).

Las coberturas de seguro globales siempre están sujetas a cambio. Por favor, verifique al momento del alquiler.

Avis acepta la mayoría de las tarjetas de crédito reconocidas al momento del alquiler como identificación de crédito.  El nombre del cliente debe estar en la tarjeta de crédito.

Lista de tarjetas de crédito aceptadas:  Tarjeta de pago Avis, American Express, AT&T Capital, Diner's Club Int'l, Discover, China UnionPay, JCB, MasterCard y Visa.  Algunas oficinas pudieran no aceptar alguna de las tarjetas de pago mencionadas.

Puede que Avis solicite la retención de un monto en su cuenta por el total estimado de los cargos de alquiler, pero se reserva el derecho, a su entera discreción, de solicitar un monto mayor dependiendo de algunos factores según considere apropiado:

En esta oficina no se aceptan tarjetas de débito al momento de efectuar el alquiler.  Se puede utilizar una tarjeta de débito para pagar el alquiler al momento de devolver el vehículo. No obstante, las tarjetas de débito deben tener un logotipo de procesamiento bancario aceptado (Visa, MasterCard, AMEX, Discover, etc.) en el momento del alquiler si tiene al menos 25 años de edad.

Para retirar el vehículo, el cliente debe presentar una licencia de conducir válida emitida en los EE. UU. y una tarjeta de crédito (o tarjeta de débito en las oficinas participantes) a nombre del cliente.  Si la licencia de conducir no se emitió en los EE. UU., debe presentar su licencia de conducir y ya sea un pasaporte o una licencia mejorada canadiense a nombre del cliente.

En esta oficina, Avis alquila a clientes con edades entre 21 y 24 con una tarjeta de crédito válida y una licencia de conducir. Al momento del alquiler, aplicaremos automáticamente un recargo adicional de 27 USD por día por no cumplir con el requisito de edad mínima de estos conductores.  Los cientes que tengan entre 21 y 24 años solo tendrán permitido alquilar vehículos Económicos (Grupo A), Compactos (Grupo B), Intermedios (Grupo C), Estándar (Grupo D), Grandes (Grupo E) y Camionetas intermedias (Grupo F).

Al momento del alquiler, es posible que al cliente o conductor autorizado se le someta a una verificación electrónica del récord del conductor en el estado emisor de la licencia de conducir, o se le pida firmar una declaración en la que certifique que cumple con los criterios siguientes:

• El cliente/conductor autorizado tiene una licencia válida que no se encuentra actualmente suspendida, vencida, revocada, cancelada o retenida.
• El cliente/conductor autorizado no ha sido hallado culpable en 1 o más ocasiones por manejo imprudente durante los últimos 36 meses.
• El cliente/conductor autorizado no ha sido hallado culpable en 1 o más ocasiones por conducir bajo influencia de alcohol o drogas (DUI), conducir en estado de ebriedad (DWI) o manejar tras haber consumido alcohol (DWAI) durante los últimos 36 meses.
• El cliente/conductor autorizado no ha dejado de informar sobre o abandonado la escena de un accidente durante los últimos 36 meses.
• El cliente/conductor autorizado nunca ha estado en posesión de un vehículo robado o utilizado un vehículo en la comisión de un delito.
• El cliente/conductor autorizado no ha sido hallado culpable en 3 o más ocasiones por manejo imprudente (incluidas violaciones a la ley de uso de cinturón de seguridad) durante los últimos 24 meses.
• El cliente/conductor autorizado no ha sufrido 3 o más accidentes en los últimos 36 meses.

Cargo por servicio de combustible. Aunque la mayoría de los vehículos se alquilan con el tanque de combustible lleno, esto no siempre es así.

Si está disponible y lo permite la ley, si recorre menos de 75 millas, usted acepta que nosotros agreguemos una tarifa plana al alquiler, cuyo monto se divulgará en el Contrato de alquiler y en el mostrador antes del alquiler. Puede evitar este cargo en el momento de la devolución si proporciona un recibo por el combustible comprado. En ese momento la tarifa fija será revertida del total de sus cargos por alquiler. Si no se aplica el subpárrafo (a), existen tres opciones de reabastecimiento de combustible:

1) Si no acepta la opción de servicio de combustible, si está disponible, al inicio del alquiler y devuelve el vehículo con una cantidad de combustible menor a la que tenía cuando lo recibió, le cobraremos un cargo por servicio de reabastecimiento de combustible al precio aplicable por milla o por galón indicado en el documento de alquiler o informado en la oficina. La tarifa por milla se utiliza si usted no compra combustible durante el período de alquiler. Para calcular esta cantidad, multiplicamos el número de millas recorridas que señale el odómetro del vehículo (o provisto por el dispositivo telemático del vehículo) por la tarifa por milla indicada en el Contrato de alquiler. La tarifa por galón se utiliza si usted compra combustible durante el alquiler y nos proporciona el recibo cuando se lo solicitamos, pero el tanque no está igual de lleno en el momento de la devolución que cuando recibió el vehículo (determinado con un medidor instalado de fábrica, redondeado al tanque de 1/8 inferior más cercano), por la tarifa por galón que aparece en el contrato de alquiler.

Aunque se utilizan dos métodos para facilitar el cálculo, las tarifas por milla y por galón producen aproximadamente el mismo resultado. Algunos de nuestros vehículos cuentan con dispositivos telemáticos a bordo que registran las cantidades reales de combustible en el tanque de gasolina. Si su vehículo está equipado con dicho dispositivo, se le cobrará la cantidad real de gasolina necesaria para llenar el tanque según la lectura de este dispositivo.

2) Si acepta la opción de servicio de combustible al comienzo de su alquiler, se le cargará lo que se muestra en el Contrato de alquiler por esa compra y usted no nos pagará un cargo por servicio de combustible. Si elige esta opción no tendrá que pagar cargos adicionales por combustible y servicio, pero no recibirá crédito alguno por el combustible que se encuentre en el tanque al devolver el vehículo.  Si acepta la opción de servicio de combustible parcial al comienzo de su alquiler, se le cargará lo que se muestra en el Contrato de alquiler por esa compra y usted nos pagará un cargo por servicio de combustible no contemplado en la opción parcial. El costo por galón de la opción de servicio de combustible siempre será menor que el cargo por servicio de combustible. El costo del reabastecimiento del vehículo por parte del cliente en una estación de servicio local generalmente es menor que el cargo por combustible y servicio, o que la opción de servicio de combustible. Usted reconoce que el cargo por servicio de combustible no es una venta de combustible al por menor.

3) Puede evitar un cargo por servicio de combustible si devuelve el vehículo con el tanque de combustible lleno al mismo nivel que tenía cuando lo recibió y, si se lo solicitamos, presenta un recibo por compra de combustible. Si pone combustible en el automóvil, debe usar el combustible correcto (tener el grado de gasolina indicado en la calcomanía de información de combustible del automóvil, o diésel en la carretera). No utilice combustible de etanol, aunque el automóvil indique que es un vehículo de combustible flexible.

Renters who have indicated a country of residence outside of the US will be required to present a non US issued drivers license and a non US issued passport OR an international airline ticket at the time of rental to qualify for the rate.

GPS:

• Available at participating locations.
• Minimum age is 25 but may vary by locations, underage surcharges may apply at certain locations.
• Reliability of directions subject to timing of software implementation as well as that of which has been provided by the maker of the installed maps.
• I (renter) acknowledge that the rental vehicle may be equipped with GPS (global positioning satellite system). I acknowledge that the satellite system may be limited by atmospheric or topographical conditions. I further acknowledge that the GPS unit may be rendered inoperative if it is tampered with or destroyed and or damaged in an accident or if the satellite systems are obstructed and inoperative.
• Customer is responsible for all costs in the event of lost, stolen or damaged GPS unit and all of its components.
• Renter agrees to release and hold Avis harmless for any GPS unit failures. 

Gas Service Option

• Fees for the Gas Service Option are not included in the Estimated Total.
• Fees are assessed and applied at the time of rental.
• Fees vary by location and are determined by current market value of gasoline in surrounding area of rental location and the fuel tank size of rental vehicle.
• Customer will receive no credit or refund for unused fuel left in tank at time of return.

Roadside Assistance

• Taxes not included in the Estimated Total will be applied at the time of rental.
• Roadside Assistance service is available at all participating locations in the U.S., Canada, Puerto Rico, & U.S. Virgin Islands and New Zealand.
• Roadside Assistance covers the cost for assistance with key replacement, lockouts, tire change service fee, jump starts and emergency fuel delivery (up to 3 gallons).
• Prohibited use of the vehicle will void this option.

SiriusXM®

• Taxes not included in the Estimated Total will be applied at the time of rental.
• Available at participating U.S. locations  

Other Options

• Rental options not selected/offered on the avis.com website can not be modified online.
• Taxes not included in the Estimated Total will be applied at the time of rental.
• Any modifications to these rental options must be made by contacting customer service or can be made at the rental counter.

Towing is not permitted. Vehicles cannot be used to tow or push anything.  A trailer hitch cannot be installed on the vehicles.

Vehicles at this location may travel outside the state of Alaska.  Based on availability, one-way rentals may be allowed to some cities within the state of Alaska and some locations in the northwest contiguous states.  Alaska has many Restricted Highways and dangerous dirt or gravel roads.  Avis Alaska does not permit their cars to travel on the following highways/roads:  Dempster, Denali, Dalton, Elliot, Steese, Taylor, McCarthy, Swanson, Skilak, Tustamena and Marathon.  The standard Avis rental contract prohibits travel on unpaved roads.  Renters may drive U.S. vehicles into Canada with no restrictions on provinces.  The rental counter must be notified at the time of rental that you plan to drive the vehicle into Canada so the location may issue a Canadian Non-Resident Insurance Card. One-way rentals into Canada are not permitted.

How old do I need to be to drive a rental vehicle?

To drive our vehicles, you - and all of your drivers - need to be at least 21 years old and have held a full, valid driving licence for at least 2 years at the start of your rental. For car groups A, B and E you - and all the authorized drivers - need to be at least 19 years old and have held a full, valid driving licence issued from at least 1 year.
A higher minimum age limit may apply to certain vehicles.

How do I know if there are minimum age restrictions on my rental?

When you book, you'll be told if there are any minimum age restrictions for the vehicle you request. If you're not sure, please check your booking confirmation email - or call the reservations team.

I'm under 25; do I need to pay a young driver surcharge?

If you - or any of your drivers - are under 25 when you pick up the vehicle, you will each have to pay a young driver surcharge. The cost for this will depend on where you're picking the vehicle up from - but you can expect it to be between EUR 21.39 (Vat included) and EUR 25.66 (Vat and airport/city surcharges included), per day, for each driver.
If you rent the vehicle for more than 15 days, you'll only be charged for a maximum of 15 days and get cover for the duration of your rental, up to 30 days.

Are there any maximum age restrictions?
No, so long as you hold a full, valid driving licence for at least 1 year.
