CDW (Collision Damage Waiver)

Breach of any conditions on rental agreements render cover null and void. Negligence, unsuitable road conditions or where no other vehicle is involved renders the renter liable for all damage. In the event of an accident a Claim Administration Fee will be charged over and above the damage repair costs or applicable excess as follows: repairs up to BTP 300.00: BTP290.00, repairs greater than BTP 300.00: BTP 520.00 (incl tax).

WTDW (Windscreen Tyre Damage Waiver)
This cover includes all the glass on the vehicle at a charge of BTP 175.00 (incl tax) per day. No liability charges apply when WTDW is taken. If WTDW is declined, the maximum liability is BTP 15 000.00 (incl tax).

Avis Botswana accepts Avis Charge Cards, American Express, Diners Club, Mastercard and Visa. Cash and debit cards not accepted.

Debit cards are not accepted.

At the time of rentals, the driver must present a valid drivers license in the drivers name from their country of residence.  Customers presenting a drivers license in a non-Roman alphabet must also present an International Driving Permit (IDP) to serve as a translation in addition to their valid drivers license..

Customer must have a valid licence from country of residence. International permit is required if licence in non-roman alphabet. Licence must be carried at all times whilst driving. Renter must have been in possession of licence for a minimum of 1 year.

An International Driving Permit (IDP) serves only as a translation of a driver's existing license, and by itself is not acceptable for vehicle rental.

Public liability insurance is in accordance with the insurance laws of the country.  Customer may inquire at the time of rental for additional information of the benefits, conditions and acceptance.

Note: Some credit cards provide insurance coverage, with certain limitations, as a benefit of using the card to rent vehicles.  The customer is advised to contact the card issuer before the rental.  Any waiver must be discussed directly with the location upon arrival.

At this location the minimum age is 23 for renters with an Avis honored charge card.  Renters with a Diners or American Express card may rent at 21.  Young Driver Surcharge: BTP 150.00 per day.

Renters must have with a valid unendorsed drivers license that has been held for a minimum of one year.  It is a Botswana legal requirement to have the drivers license in possession at all times.

Outside Country
A letter of authority for cross border rentals must be requested by the customer at the time of the rental. If this is not obtained, Avis cannot be held responsible if the customer is refused entry.

Cross border to Namibia is permitted at an additional cost of NAD 300.00 road tax fee (to be paid at the Namibian border), if driving a non-Namibian vehicle.

Cross Border to South Africa
There is a cross-border fee when entering South Africa. The cross-border letter can be obtained when collecting the vehicle. However, the customer will need to advise at time of reservation that they will be entering South Africa. If the vehicle is being returned in South Africa the one-way cross border fee will apply.

Cross Border to Zimbabwe: There is a cross-border fee when entering Zimbabwe. Vehicles may not be left in Zimbabwe and must be returned to country of origin. However, the customer will need to advise at time of reservation that they will be entering Zimbabwe. Fire Extinguishers and reflector Jackets can be rented from our offices.

Cross Border to Other Countries
Vehicles may not enter Angola, Malawi, Mozambique or Zambia even if returning to Botswana.

All cross border rentals are subject to a fee of 2,050.00 BTP, including tax.
