INSURANCE
Emergency insurance / CDW, TP/. Personal insurance / PAI / accident insurance can be prepared for a fee at an appropriate insurance company

AVIS offers a partial coverage plan of damages caused by damage, loss or theft of the vehicle.

In the case of drug use, alcoholic beverages and other narcotics, the customer is fully responsible for damages on the vehicle even when the insurance is paid. Any reduction from the insurance company resulting from damage to the vehicle is automatically transferred on the customer. In the case of a customer leaving documents, keys or other important documents in the vehicle, the customer is responsible for their loss towards the renter.

DAMAGE EXCESSES

If the car's bodywork gets damaged, you're covered by the Collision Damage Waiver. This means that the most you'll pay towards repairs is the damage excess ( 700,00 Euro).

This cover is only valid if you stick to the terms of the rental agreement. It doesn't cover other parts of the car (e.g. windows, wheels, interior or undercarriage), or charges (e.g. for towing or off-road time), or anything in the car (e.g. child seats, GPS devices or personal belongings).


Debit Card Policies

Debit cards are not accepted.


Drivers License

At the time of rentals, the driver must present a valid drivers license in the drivers name from their country of residence.  Customers presenting a drivers license in a non-Roman alphabet must also present an International Driving Permit (IDP) to serve as a translation in addition to their valid drivers license..


Public Liability and Property Damage

Public liability insurance is in accordance with the insurance laws of the country.  Customer may inquire at the time of rental for additional information of the benefits, conditions and acceptance.

Note: Some credit cards provide insurance coverage, with certain limitations, as a benefit of using the card to rent vehicles.  The customer is advised to contact the card issuer before the rental.  Any waiver must be discussed directly with the location upon arrival.

AVIS is not responsible for customer’s assets and for things left in a car.
Refund of VAT is not possible.
AVIS reserves the right to change rental terms and conditions.
The price of the vehicle rental does not include liquids and fluids, which have to be added during the use of the vehicle:
windshield washer fluid
coolant
engine oil
adblue
Each vehicle is checked by a technician before the start of a rental, all fluids are refilled.


Additional Driver Policy

Additional car drivers must be reported to AVIS. Only the driver(s) listed in the rental agreement can drive the vehicle. You will be required to ensure that no other person drove the vehicle. Additional driver fee is 9 Euro VAT excluded per rental or a maximum 45 Euro VAT excluded will apply to every additional driver per rental.


After Hours Information

KEYBOX
When returning the vehicle in such a way that the vehicle keys are returned to the keybox, the damages and condition of the vehicle is checked only without the tenant's presence. If you decide to return the vehicle outside the office opening hours, you will still be responsible for it until it is reviewed by the rental company. We recommend to thoroughly inspect the vehicle and make photos. You should, if it is possible, park the vehicle in a safe place, where parking is permitted. Additionally, for the return of the vehicle into the keybox, you will be charged a fee.

We strongly recommend that you always make sure that the vehicle has been inspected by a AVIS Slovakia representative and by doing so, ensuring that both parties agreed on the state of the vehicle.


Age Requirements

Minimum age: 21 for all car groups - Except car groups H and K where minimum age is 18


Collecting and Returning Your Vehicle

RETURN STATION
If the car is returned to a station other than agreed - outside the same city - at time of Check Out and noted in the Rental Agreement, an amended return fee is being charged for the additional fleet disposition cost.

PROLONGATION
It is mandatory for the customer to report any lease extension at least 24 hours before the agreed termination of the lease. The extension must be done personally by representation of the renter and the customer must receive a written permission for such extension, while being obliged to pay the full rent including the extension to the renter. Any non-extension during the rental will be considered as unauthorized use of a foreign vehicle with all the legal consequences and applied fees from Avis.

KEYBOX
When returning the vehicle in such a way that the vehicle keys are returned to the keybox, the damage and condition of the vehicle is checked only without the tenant's presence and for any new damage found without the tentant's presence is tenant responsible and may be subject for charge from Avis.

Upon request, we can arrange a drop-off and pick-up of cars anywhere in Slovakia. Prices are stated in fees.


Fines

RESPONSIBILITIES AND FINES
The customer is responsible for all charges related to the operation of the vehicle during the rental period (fines for traffic offenses, parking fees, fees for using toll roads) You are responsible for all traffic offenses including parking offenses and speeding in the period of time when the vehicle is in your possession. In addition to the fine, you may be charged an administrative fee. The method of handling and accounting of traffic offenses depends on the type of penalty and the country where the offense occurred. You are also responsible for paying the fees for the use of toll roads.


Fuel Charges

FUEL POLICY
You will be given several options in relation to the amount of fuel, with which you will have to return the vehicle. These will be explained to you at the beginning of your rental.

You should return the vehicle with the agreed amount of fuel and ensure that the correct type of fuel is fueled. If you do not do so, you will be charged additional costs.

General Information

CARS
We offer a wide variety of cars and minivans. The availability can vary between stations, not all car types are available at each location. The cars are classified into groups according to the type of car. Reservations can only be made for a specific group, not for a particular type of car. Our vehicles are regularly serviced and checked prior to every rental.

PRICES
Avis can offer you a wide variety of prices suitable for your individual needs. Rates for replacement cars, special weekend and holiday rates, as well as special company prices. The rental is charged according to the time of rental - in some cases the mileage driven is charged additionally. Payment is made for full units (hour, day, etc.). Partial units are rounded to the next full unit.

DEPOSIT
Deposit is a basic financial instrument that, if necessary, serves to cover the basic financial needs of the lease and serves as a guarantee to the lessor. The deposit is always paid at the beginning of the lease and is rented by the lessee to the lessor. The deposit may be composed in several ways, which are directly related to the place of delivery.

Online deposit is a form of deposit that can be remotely deposited via credit / debit card at avis.sk and avisvan.sk. In case of special location (for example airports) only credit card is accepted.

Possible use of deposit
The use of a deposit may take several forms, namely: when an insurance event or theft occurs, for fuel consumption, for the payment of parking fees, for fines or for remediation of damage.

Release the deposit
The deposit is released upon proper termination of the lease. In the case of deferred control, the release of the deposit occurs after this control and subsequent quantification of any damage incurred during the lease period. Usually within 5 business days. If the deposit is not realesed within this time period please simply send us an email to info@avis.sk

Deposit amount
The deposit amount per category (shown below) of vehicles is determined by a valid price list for that year and is updated once a year.

Deposit Payment
We hold the deposit in the form of pre-authorization on credit card, direct payment, cash or online based on location.

The amount of deposits is shown in each valid price list. The minimum deposit amount only covers a lease for a maximum of 5 days.
The amount of the deposit may be higher depending on the length of the lease.


ID and Drivers License Requirements

ID AND DRIVER'S LICENSE REQUIREMEMTS
The vehicle will only be handovered if the identity document is verified on an authorized device. Accepted ID is a passport. ID card only in case of the client's nationality from the European Union. The lease can only be made after verification of the personal documents submitted by the client upon signing the Personal Data Processing Form. If the authorized verification system denies the verification of documents, we reserve the right not to provide the lease.

We require:

  • Driving license
  • Passport
  • ID card (only required if Passport is not available)
  • Residence permit, if it is a second document

A valid driver's licence from the country of residence is required. International driving licence permit is required for licences in non-roman alphabet. Renter and driver must have held a valid driver's licence for at least one year. In any case, we require two documents. The first must be a driving license and the other may be either a passport or a national id or a residence permit for a foreign person We only accept a national ID instead of a passport if the client is an EU citizen.


Meet Late Arrival

CANCELLATIONS
If you cancel 48 hours or more before your rental is due to start, the money you've paid will be refunded.
If you cancel in the 48 hours period before pick-up, the money you've paid will be refunded, minus the cost of a 3 days rental:
If you had booked the car for less than 3 days, there won't be any additional charge, but you won't receive any refund.
If you fail to turn up at the agreed time and date, and/or to provide all the necessary documentation, and/or to provide a credit card with enough available funds on it, the car hire company may refuse you the car.
If that happens:
if you call us from the counter, the money you've paid will be refunded, minus the cost of a 3 days rental
if you do not call us from the counter, you'll receive no refund.

NO-SHOW
A "No-show" is when you:
wish to cancel but don't tell us before your rental is due to start, or
fail to pick the car up at the arranged time and date, or
fail to provide the documentation that's required to pick the car up, or
fail to provide a credit card in the main driver's name with enough available funds on it.
In all of these cases, you'll receive no refund of the money you've paid.
The car hire company reserves the right to refuse the car to any customer who fails to arrive on time with all necessary documentation and a credit card with enough available funds for the car's deposit. In such a case, unless the rental has been cancelled in advance, the customer will not be entitled to a refund.

CHANGES TO BOOKINGS
You can make changes to your booking any time before you're due to pick the car up.
If your pick-up time is at least 48 hours away, the easiest way to do this is to go to "Manage booking" in the top right-hand corner.
If you need to change something when your pick-up time is less than 48 hours away, please call us instead.
There is no fee for changing your booking, but any changes you make may affect the rental price.
The price is based on the pick-up and drop-off times that you arrange before your rental starts. If you pick the car up any later or bring it back any earlier, you will not receive a refund for unused hours or days.

Collision Damage Waiver (CDW)

Your rental includes unlimited free kilometres.
Changing the length of your rental can affect how many kilometres you can drive for free. It can also affect how much you will pay for each additional kilometre.

Local Charges
This section shows charges that you'll pay at the counter because of where you're picking your car up, who's driving, and where you go during your rental.
This section doesn't show other over-the-counter costs, such as charges for fuel, child seats or additional services. You'll find details of other charges in other sections of these terms and conditions.
You are responsible for any charges and fines, including tolls, congestion charges, speeding tickets and parking or traffic fines.
After your rental
If you've incurred any charges, such as speeding tickets or unpaid congestion charges, the car hire company will try to contact you when the authorities ask them who was driving. This could be months after your rental - and you'll have to pay the company's administration fee as well as the original charge.
Please note: to help you compare different deals, we've standardised the names of these charges. The names that your car hire company uses might be slightly different.
One-Way Rentals
If you arrange to pick the car up in one location and drop it off in another, the car hire company may charge a one-way fee to cover the cost of returning the car to the original location.
Prior notification is required for all one-way rentals. If you drop the car off at a location other than the one originally agreed; you will incur a "Penalty" from the car hire company.
The cost of this service will be confirmed after you have made the booking and we have confirmed with the car company that this would be allowed.
Returning vehicle to Keybox Other Fees
If any of the following apply, the counter staff will charge you extra when you pick your car up - or when you drop it off:
Cleaning Fee
The car hire company will charge you if the car needs more than a reasonable amount of cleaning after your rental.
Unfortunately, the car hire company won't tell us how much this charge is. The counter staff will confirm whether this charge applies to you.


One Way Rentals

ONE WAY RENTALS
If you need to return your car outside the branch you have rent it from, we offer a one-way trip service. Practically, the car can be returned at any AVIS branch in the entire Europe. Prices for the most frequently used places are listed in the fees.

We do not accept Visa Electron cards, Maestro cards, V-Pay cards, Cirrus cards, JCB cards, AMERICAN EXPRESS card or any other cards not listed above.
Prepaid cards can only be used for making payments at the end of your rental.

Debit Card Policies
Debit cards are accepted only if the debit card can be used for pre-authorisation before we release the vehicle to you and are not accepted at the airport location.


Special Equipment

Winter chains, baby seats, GPS navigation are available upon request for a fee.


Travel Into Other Countries

TRAVEL ABROAD
For travelling outside Slovakia special conditions apply. The entry into some countries with an Avis vehicle is not allowed. Information will be given at time of check out, and these conditions will also be printed on the Rental Agreement. Entry is allowed in EU countries except of Romania and Bulgaria.
If you plan to travel cross-border into the EU, please let us know at the time of booking. Costs for roads with tolls, tolls for bridges, vignettes etc. are entirely your responsibility. If you do not pay these charges before you use such roads or bridges, you will be charged a fine.
