The John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) is located in the Jamaica neighborhood of Queens. JFK is about 8.6 miles from the Brooklyn borough, and with a rental car, it can take around 30 minutes to drive the short distance between the boroughs.
JFK and LaGuardia Airport (LGA) are major airports serving New York City and each has advantages. For example, JFK is the larger airport, so you’ll likely have more flight options. JFK is also closer to popular boroughs like Queens. On the other hand, LGA is usually less busy, and it’s the nearest airport to Times Square.
LaGuardia airport is the closest airport to New York City and is just 9.6 miles from midtown Manhattan. However, JFK is about 18 miles from midtown, so it’s not much farther. Finally, Newark is around 17 miles from the theatre district.
