Damage Waiver

In most cases, Damage Waiver is provided with the vehicle as standard. If it is included, it will be stated on your Rental Agreement Form (and in your booking confirmation).

Damage Waiver reduces the amount you pay for each clearly separate incident of damage if the vehicle is damaged (or the amount you pay to replace any keys, accessories or vehicle documents that are lost, stolen or damaged).

The amount you pay for each clearly separate incident of damage will be the lower of a) the applicable cost payable under the Theft, Loss, and Damages Policy; or b) the excess stated on your Rental Agreement Form.

Normally between EUR 15.00 and EUR 25.00 per day (if not included as standard) If you rent the vehicle for more than 10 days, you will only be charged for a maximum of 10 days and get cover for the duration of your rental, up to 30 days.

Super Damage Waiver (SCDW)

An excess reduction product which reduces your damage waiver excess to zero (or, if higher, the amount shown on your Rental Agreement Form) on cars and EUR 400.00 (or, if higher, the amount shown on your Rental Agreement Form) on vans and minibuses. Normally between EUR 7.50 and EUR 10.50 per day (charged for a max 10 days to cover rental up to 30 days.).

Theft Protection waiver (TP)

In most cases, Theft Protection waiver is provided with the vehicle as standard. If it is included, it will be stated on your Rental Agreement Form (and in your booking confirmation).

Theft Protection waiver reduces the amount you pay if the vehicle is stolen during the rental period.

The amount you pay will be the lower of a) the applicable cost payable under the Theft, Loss, and Damages Policy; or b) the excess stated on your Rental Agreement Form. Normally between EUR 6.00 and EUR 9.99 per day (if not included as standard) charged for a max 10 days to cover rental up to 30 days.

Super Theft Protection waiver (STP)

An excess reduction product which reduces your theft protection excess to zero on cars and EUR 400.00 on vans and minibuses. Normally between EUR 7.50 and EUR 10.50 per day (charged for a max 10 days to cover rental up to 30 days.)

Windscreen protection
Windscreen Protection reduces the amount you have to pay if the windscreen is damaged to zero. Windscreen cover can be added to your booking when you pick up your vehicle from rental location. Normally EUR 8.00 per day
(Charged for a max 10 days to cover rental up to 30 days.).

Roadside Assistance Plus

This product provides roadside assistance without any additional costs being charged if you break down as a result of vehicle failure you have caused (this includes lost keys). Normally EUR 5.00 per day (charged for a max 10 days to cover rental up to 30 days).

Avis Finland accepts Avis Charge Cards, American Express, MasterCard and Visa. We do not accept cash, debit cards, Diners cards, Maestro cards, Visa Electron cards or any prepaid credit cards.

Pre-Authorisation / Security Deposit
You must give us a pre-authorisation on your payment card before we release the vehicle to you. A pre-authorisation holds money in your account.
The amount of the pre-authorisation is calculated based on:
(a) the estimated vehicle rental price, (b) plus the estimated price of all optional extras you've requested, (c) plus an amount to allow for any fuel you may use
If you have selected our Pay Now option, when booking, the sum you have paid will be deducted from the pre-authorisation value.

Not accepted

Debit cards are not accepted.

At the time of rental, the driver must present a valid drivers license in the drivers name from their country of residence.  License must have been held for a minimum of one year.  Customers presenting a drivers license in a non-Roman alphabet must also present an International Driving Permit (IDP) to serve as a translation in addition to their valid drivers license.

An International Driving Permit (IDP) serves only as a translation of a driver's existing license, and by itself is not acceptable for vehicle rental.

Personal Accident Insurance (PAI)

Covers the driver of the vehicle and personal items in the vehicle in the event of an accident. Personal Accident Insurance provides the following benefits:

• A maximum of EUR 20,124.00 in the event of death or permanent total disability caused by an accident
• A maximum of EUR 1,682.00 per accident towards medical expenses caused by an accident.

Normally EUR 4.01 per day (charged for a max 10 days to cover rental up to 30 days).

The customer must request conditions, rates and acceptance at the time of checkout.

Public liability insurance is in accordance with the insurance laws of the country.  Customer may inquire at the time of rental for additional information of the benefits, conditions and acceptance.

Note: Some credit cards provide insurance coverage, with certain limitations, as a benefit of using the card to rent vehicles.  The customer is advised to contact the card issuer before the rental.  Any waiver must be discussed directly with the location upon arrival.

No minimum age. Driving license must have been held for minimum one year.

Vehicles are supplied with a full tank of fuel at the start of the rental. To avoid refuelling charges, please return the car with a full tank of fuel. If the fuel tank is not full, we will fill it up and charge you for the fuel and service. By choosing our Fuel Up Front service at the time of rental, you pay for the tank upfront and when you return, we'll take car of the refuelling for you.

Electric Vehicles
You get your electric vehicle with at least 70% battery charge and you must return it the same way. If you fail to return the vehicle with at least a 70% battery charge, you will be required to pay a fixed fee dependent on the % battery charge you return the vehicle to us.
You must return the vehicle with at least 70% battery charge or the same % battery charge as it had at the time of pick up.

70% or more battery charge = 0
11% - 69% = EUR 30 (incl. VAT)
10% or less = EUR 100 (incl. VAT)

Check cross border availability from our Reservation Center and remember to mention the border cross for the Damage and Theft Protections to apply. Border crossing is allowed only to Norway, Sweden and Denmark. Border crossing fee is EUR 75 (incl. Tax).
Contact our reservation center with your cross border request at least 7 days before departure.

Fixed Value Voucher Rentals: Customer must present an Avis honored charge card, in addition to the voucher, at time of rental.  This is required to cover any additional charges.
