For a slightly quieter spot, drive 20 minutes along the coast to Aspat Beach, which was once a hangout for Genoese pirates. The surrounding hills are also ideal for hiking, with ancient ruins scattered across them.
The weekly Turgutreis Market is well worth visiting to pick up fresh local produce, or souvenirs for friends and family. In the smaller shops and boutiques around town, peruse the array of clothing and artisan wares on sale.

On the peninsula’s northern end, just a 35-minute drive up the D330, the small, quiet fishing village of Torba is a change of pace from other seaside resorts in the area. Olive groves and pine forests surround the port, while restaurants serve up the freshest fish of the day.

Drive for just over an hour up the D330 to the ancient town of Milas, boasting more than 20 archaeological sites. Roman walls, gates and tombs mix with artefacts from the Ottoman Empire. The town is also famous for its rugs and carpets, which are handmade using traditional methods.
