Drop Box Available: If the customer chooses to leave the vehicle, the customer is responsible for the vehicle & all charges (including any damages or theft of the vehicle may have incurred during after hours) until the contract can be closed on the following business day.

Drop Box NOT Available: If the location does not have a key drop box, the location does not permit vehicles to be left after closing hours. The customer should never lock or leave the keys inside the car. The customer is responsible for the vehicle & all charges (including any damages to or theft of the vehicle and locksmith fees if they choose to lock the keys in the car). The customer can either choose to return the car the next day the location is open OR change the Drop Off Location to the nearest Regional Airport. Customer is responsible for all charges related to the drop-off modification.

Bergen is a lovely coastal city to the west of Norway that, while relatively isolated, is one of Norway’s most inspiring destinations. Bursting with history and surrounded by stunning scenery, travelling around Bergen will see you touring ancient harbours and cruising across gigantic fjords.

Bryggen, the oldest part of Bergen, should be your first stop. Situated at the city’s wharf, traditional Norwegian architecture is showcased here, with rows of colourful wooden houses lining the water’s edge. Between the 14th and 16th centuries, this port was a trade centre. Sadly, fires destroyed many original buildings from that time.

The Torget Fish Market is another must-see. Located under the tourist information centre in a decidedly Norwegian glass-walled building, the market sells everything from fish and chips to prawn baguettes and seafood salads. At times, local specialties like reindeer and elk are also sold here.

For a bird’s-eye view of the city, head to the summit of Fløyen mountain. It’s possible to hike or take the cliff railway to the top. From the summit, you’ll see the city below and the surrounding towns nestled between the fjords that stretch out towards the ocean in the distance.

Western Fjords

The fjords in western Norway surround Bergen and extend far into the interior. In spring, the fjords are coated in beautiful, wild vegetation, and in winter a white blanket of snow. During summer, outdoor enthusiasts travel to the area to go hiking in the striking landscapes. Voss, under a two-hour drive from Bergen airport on the E16, is a great place to start exploring the fjords. It’s also possible to take a boat trip along the waterways.

Kvamskogen and Norheimsund

The ski resort area of Kvamskogen is just over an hour from Bergen via the Fv7. During winter, the area boasts over 60km of cross-country tracks, plus 17km of floodlit ski and snowboard slopes. With three ski resorts in the region, Kvamskogen is the hub of winter sports in western Norway. A 20-minute drive down from the mountains to the Hardangerfjord takes you to the idyllic town of Norheimsund, where you can stand behind a 50-metre high waterfall and learn about the local boat-building tradition at the Hardanger Maritime Museum.
