The bustling city of Eindhoven in the south of the Netherlands was once just a tiny town, but boomed in the 1900s after Phillips – the electronics company – was founded here. Perhaps the liveliest city in the south of the Netherlands, Eindhoven is a hub of design, technology and history. Pay a visit to the Van Abbemuseum, which displays contemporary works by big-name artists including Picasso, Chagall and Kandinsky. No visit to the city is complete without a visit to the Philips Factory Museum, which provides a fascinating insight into the original 19th- century electronic processes. Eindhoven’s most recognisable feature is the Evoluon – a unique architectural sight built to mark the 75th anniversary of Phillips, planted just west of the city centre. If you want to shop, head to the stylish shopping area known as Around Admirant which has the highest building in Eindhoven, De Admirant, a 105 metre tall tower at its centre.
