You’ll find our friendly team at Avis Luxembourg Findel Airport at the arrival lounge on level -1. To collect your car, you’ll be heading to the car park reserved for rental cars which is in the indoor car park - Parking Indoor A – which you’ll find at level -2. Follow the “rental car” signs throughout the airport to reach us.
The drive from Luxembourg’s Findel Airport into the centre of Luxembourg city is just under 5 miles (8km) and takes between 15 and 30min depending on the time of day. The airport lies to the north east of the city which is reached via the N1 national road.
Luxembourg, capital of the small central European country of Luxembourg is a lively, cosmopolitan city with a rich history. This scenic city sits on a hillside around the gorges of the Petrusee and Alzette rivers. Must-see sights include the Chemin de La Corniche, a ‘balcony’ offering a birdseye view of the skyline, the Grand Ducal Palace and the Cathedral Notre Dame de Luxembourg.
Luxembourg is one of the smallest countries in the world at just 84km from north to south and 56km wide from east to west making it easy to travel around by car and explore a scenic landscape of rolling hills, lakes and mountains. Don’t miss Vianden Castle, a 30min drive from the capital and one of the most impressive romanesque-gothic castles in Europe or the medieval town of Echternach, with its 7th century Benedictine Abbey.
With Belgium, France and Germany all within easy reach, there are endless possibilities for road trips both within Luxembourg itself and across the border.
Buses, trains and trams have all been free in Luxembourg city since 2022 and the city’s main attractions are all accessible within walking distance. However, given its size, you can easily drive across Luxembourg in an hour and so renting a car is a great way to explore the country and take the opportunity to cross the border for day trips in Germany, France or Belgium.
If you are driving in Luxembourg for the first time or haven’t travelled there recently, make sure you familiarise yourself with the country’s driving rules before picking up your car. Some key road rules in Luxembourg include; driving on the right and overtaking on the left. Be aware that buses have right of way when pulling out and on steep hills, cars going uphill have priority. Parking is plentiful in Luxembourg with several large car parks in the city centre as well as park and ride facilities on the outskirts of the city. You can pay for on-street parking in Luxembourg city via the Indigo Neo App. The time you can park depends on the designated zone with short and longer stay options available.
Damage Waiver
In most cases, Damage Waiver is provided with the vehicle as standard. If it is included, it will be stated on your Rental Agreement Form (and in your booking confirmation).
Damage Waiver reduces the amount you pay for each clearly separate incident of damage if the vehicle is damaged (or the amount you pay to replace any keys, accessories or vehicle documents that are lost, stolen or damaged).
The amount you pay for each clearly separate incident of damage will be the lower of a) the applicable cost payable under the Theft, Loss and Damages Policy; or b) the excess stated on your Rental Agreement Form.
Super Damage Waiver (SCDW)
An excess reduction product which reduces your damage waiver excess to zero with a valid police report on cars or vans. (or, if higher, the amount shown on your Rental Agreement Form).
Theft Protection waiver (TP)
In most cases, Theft Protection waiver is provided with the vehicle as standard. If it is included, it will be stated on your Rental Agreement Form (and in your booking confirmation).
Theft Protection waiver reduces the amount you pay if the vehicle is stolen during the rental period.
The amount you pay will be the lower of a) the applicable cost payable under the Theft, Loss and Damages Policy; or b) the excess stated on your Rental Agreement Form.
Super Theft Protection
Documents from the vehicle must not be left unattended inside the vehicle, as doing so is legally prohibited and considered a misdemeanour. The Croatian law requires the driver to carry a valid driver's license or a certificate confirming the submission of an application for its issuance, a vehicle registration certificate, an insurance policy, and a European accident report. The driver must present these documents upon request by a police officer.
Damage/Loss/Repair Processing Fee
Please see the section titled "Damage, loss, injury or theft" in the General Conditions which provides information on how and when we charge costs if the vehicle, keys, any accessories, or any vehicle documents are lost, stolen or damaged.
You can purchase additional waiver and protection products to reduce the amount you would otherwise owe please see details in Part 2 below.
As well as charging for any damage or loss suffered, we will also charge you a damage processing fee in accordance with our "Theft, Loss & Damage Policy" (see General Conditions). In Luxembourg, the Damage/ Loss/ Repair Processing Fee and on the ground idle fee which are charged as per our Tariff conditions (https://www.avis.lu/a-propos-d-avis/conditions-tarifaires).
