Plan your journey from Biarritz Bab Airport

Land at the seaside town’s international airport (Biarritz Bab Airport) and it’s a quick five-minute drive to its bustling centre. All you need to do is pick up your car hired from the airport.

Make the most of this beachside hotspot and explore its long stretches of coastline. Grande Plage is the main beach here and attracts families and couples, while others are more suited to sports enthusiasts. As a major surfing destination, Biarritz’s beaches attract surfers from around the world keen to test out the waves. Plage de la Côte des Basques is the ultimate surfing spot, so rent a board and take some lessons while you’re here.

At sunset, climb to the top of the Phare de Biarritz – the city’s lighthouse constructed in 1834. From the top, admire sweeping views of the coastal town and Atlantic ocean beyond.

Basque food is a highlight of any trip to Biarritz and an evening at Chez Ospi (a neighbourhood bistro) is the perfect way to sample this cuisine. The crab ravioli is a particularly delicious choice.
