Explore Corfu easily with an Avis hire car with the freedom to discover this stunning Greek island at your own pace.
Corfu is a long, narrow island in the Ionian Sea, sitting between Italy, Albania and Greece - these influences contribute to the great cultural mix present in its architecture and cuisine. The island’s road network is easy to navigate by car along its golden coastline, connecting secluded bays and fishing villages with ancient monuments and remote mountain villages.
Driving in Corfu town you’ll spot well-known landmarks like the Old Fortress, the Liston, and Spianada Square. Nearby Mouse Island, reached by boat from Kanoni, is probably one of Corfu’s most photographed spots.
Renting a car from Avis at Corfu Airport is fast and efficient, meaning you can spend more time exploring. Benefit from quality rental vehicles, flexible booking, speedy collection, a free loyalty programme and free cancellation.

Corfu International Airport (CFU) or Ioannis Kapodistrias (Capodistrias) International Airport as it is known in Greek, is the fifth busiest airport in Greece and the third busiest of the country’s island airports after Heraklion on Crete and Rhodes.
Corfu International Airport has a single terminal for both domestic and international flights making it easy to navigate for passengers. There are several flights a day connecting the island with Athens, the Greek capital. In peak summer months, the airport welcomes charter flights from across northern Europe as well as direct flights from major airports like London Heathrow.
The airport is just outside Corfu town and centrally located with good access across the island.
Hiring a car is an easy way to explore the island of Corfu. We’d recommend using GPS to navigate the island’s road network. Links are excellent from the north to the south of the island but be aware that mountain roads and beach routes can be narrow and winding. As in mainland Europe, you’ll be driving on the right-hand side of the road as you leave the airport. If you have not driven in this part of the world before, we’d advise checking the road rules for driving in Greece before you set off.
You’ll find our Avis counter at Corfu Airport in the arrivals hall close to the exit to the terminal building. The Avis rental car park is easy to find and is just a short walk across the road from the terminal entrance.
To rent a car in Corfu, Greece, you must be at least 21 years old (age may vary by car category) and you must have held your licence for at least 1 year.

Parking in Corfu town is centred around the open-air car park close to the Liston and Old Fortress and you can seek out on-street parking in the maze of side roads a short walk from the old town. Parking in beach areas tends to be centred around hotels and tavernas. Our top tip is to opt for designated roadside parking areas which open under the shade of the olive groves if you are visiting in peak summer months.
From the Avis car park at Corfu Airport, Corfu town is just a 10min drive of less than a mile. Head north from the airport and join Democracy Avenue and then right turn towards the sea before emerging into town via the palm-fringed coast road alongside the Old Fortress.
