Plan your journey from Brussels National Airport

Drive just 30 minutes from Brussels National Airport and you’ll arrive in Brussels – the coolest city in Belgium, offering a charming combination of old and new.

A trip to this city of contrasts guarantees a fascinating experience with a surprise at every turn. As a cosmopolitan city built on a multi-layered tapestry of styles and historical influences, Brussels is officially bilingual so the landmarks and sights of the capital each have a French and Flemish name.

Explore the neighbourhood of Marolles to discover one of the few places where Flemish is predominantly spoken. A rummage around the legendary flea market here (held daily on the Place du Jeu de Balle – also called Vossenplein) is a must, as is a meander around the mishmash of independent and unusual shops sprawled across the neighbourhood.

Ixelles-Elsene is a lively part of town with plenty of restaurants and bars, as well as an abundance of record stores and bookshops. Saint-Gilles or Sint-Gillis is the city's bohemian centre, filled with arty types and art nouveau buildings.

From Brussels National Airport, the Belgian capital is yours to discover.

Frequent renters get upgraded – and additional days for free – by signing up for Avis Preferred loyalty benefits. Simply choose a date and time and we’ll prepare your quality hire car.

Beyond Brussels National Airport

Ghent

With canal-side bars, beautiful architecture and an undeniably cool vibe, Ghent is a must-see. Stroll along the canal or visit one of the city’s fascinating museums. Sample the Flemish cuisine and marvel at the rich history. Ghent is a city with so much to offer those who venture.

Bruges

Continue just over an hour north from Brussels along the E40 to discover the charm of Bruges. A medieval town plucked straight out of a fairytale, Bruges boasts stacks of history and even more charm. With its winding cobbled streets and tranquil canals, ancient churches and whitewashed buildings, it doesn’t get much prettier or quainter.
