Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) is Optional (taxable)
Purchase of LDW reduces customers financial responsibility to a minimum liability with purchase of LDW is 3,500,000 COP.  If the rental agreement is violated in anyway the customer is responsible for full value of vehicle, including loss of use, regardless of fault.

Theft Protection (TP) is included in the cost of LDW.

Note:  If you require additional insurance coverage you may purchase locally to reduce/remove the insurance excess.  Just ask at the Avis rental desk when you collect your car.

Avis Colombia accepts Avis Charge Cards, Mastercard and Visa.  An additional credit card hold will apply.  If LDW is purchased, a hold of 2,000,000 COP to 4,000,000.00 COP, depending on car group confirmed to cover damage or theft of the Avis vehicle.  If there is no damage, the hold will be reimbursed to the credit card.  If LDW is declined, a hold of 10,000,000 COP to cover damage for repairs to the Avis vehicle.  If there is no damage, the hold will be reimbursed to the credit card.

NOTE: Refund of credit card deposit - The credit card deposit is on hold for seven (7) days to finishy the rental (in case of traffic tickets or supported issues). Your banking institutiohn controls the timing of the credit card hold release.  While most holds are released, within 7 days, some banking institutions may take up to 30 days or longer to process.

Debit cards are not accepted.

At the time of rentals, the driver must present a valid drivers license in the drivers name from their country of residence.  Customers presenting a drivers license in a non-Roman alphabet must also present an International Driving Permit (IDP) to serve as a translation in addition to their valid drivers license..

Public liability insurance is in accordance with the insurance laws of the country.  Customer may inquire at the time of rental for additional information of the benefits, conditions and acceptance.

Note: Some credit cards provide insurance coverage, with certain limitations, as a benefit of using the card to rent vehicles.  The customer is advised to contact the card issuer before the rental.  Any waiver must be discussed directly with the location upon arrival.

The prices we give you for optional extras when you book will generally be the price you will pay. Exchange rates or other reasons beyond our control may alter prices.

No, regrettably, we do not offer specially adapted vehicles at this time.

No, regrettably, we do not currently offer hand controls or panoramic mirrors at this time.

Popular optional extras to rent

I have small children, do you offer child seats?
Yes, we offer baby, infant, child and booster seats.  A baby seat is typically suitable for a child from birth to 12 months old and weighing no more than 13 kilos.  An infant seat is typically suitable for a child aged 9 months to 4 years old and weighing between 9 and 18 kilos.  A child seat is typically suitable for a child aged 4 to 11 years old and weighing between 15 and 36 kilos.  A booster seat is typically suitable for a child aged 8 to 11 years old and weighing between 20 and 45 kilos.

In some rental locations, we may arrange for a third party to fit the seat for you. But remember, it is always your responsibility to check the seat is fitted correctly before you drive away.

Please note: In Belgium all children must normally use a child car seat until they're 18 years old or 135cm tall. 

How much are your child seats?
The fee for renting a seat will depend on where you are renting.
 
If the seat is damaged, lost or stolen, you will have to pay for a replacement. If you can show the damage or loss was not in any way your fault or due to your negligence, we will refund this cost to you.

I am not familiar with the area; can I rent a GPS (satellite navigation system)?
Yes, the fee for renting a GPS will depend on where you are renting, but you can expect it to cost between 16 Euro and 20 Euro a day. If you rent the vehicle for more than 10 days, you will only be charged for a maximum of 10 days and get to use the GPS for the duration of your rental, up to 28 days.
 
If the GPS is damaged, lost or stolen, you'll have to pay for a replacement. This is likely to cost between 100.00 Euro and 300 Euro on top of the hire fee. If you can show the damage or loss was not in any way your fault or due to your negligence, we will refund this cost to you.
 
Please note: In some countries, it is against the law to use a GPS that tells you where speed cameras are. If you plan to travel outside Belgium, you should check to see whether you can use our GPS as it will give you speed information.

Do you offer an audio tour guide service on your GPS?
No, unfortunately we do not offer an audio tour guide service at this time.

I am intending to drive along toll roads; do you offer a device to make this quicker and easier for me?
No, unfortunately we do not offer any electronic toll charging devices at this time.

Yes, you can buy a USB Charger for 10 Euro but they are only available from selected rental locations.

I have left my iPhone 5 cable behind, do you sell them?
Yes, you can buy an iPhone 5 cable for 20 Euro but they are only available from selected rental locations.

At this location the minimum age is 18 for all car groups.  There are no maximum age requirements.  An underage fee of 20,000 COP per day will apply for drivers 18-21.
