Car Hire Chur

You’ll find the friendly team at Avis car rental in Chur in Commercialstrasse within the Chur bus station complex and close to Chur West railway station.

Chur is believed to the be the oldest town in Swizerland. On the River Rhine and well placed for the Alps, the narrow streets of the old town are a car-free zone. The Cathedral of the Assumption and Bishop’s Palace are worth a visit. Take the cable car to the top of the town to enjoy the views and access walking trails with the ski slopes above.

Although the town of Chur is car-free, there are so many great options for road trips in the area from the nearby winter resort of Laax, the lakeland setting of Caumasee and the stunning gorge of Viamala. Further afield, Davos is within easy reach and the town is close to the Italian border with beautiful towns like Bellinzona and Locarno not to be missed.

When you are driving in the Alps, you’ll need to check weather forecasts before leaving, and if heavy snow or ice is imminent, be prepared, even if you have experience of driving in these conditions. Your Avis rental car will need to be fitted with winter tyres or snow chains or you might pick a 4WD vehicle. For latest advice on road rules, we’ve prepared a guide to driving in Switzerland.
