La aceptación de la Exoneración en caso de pérdida o daños exime al cliente y a los conductores adicionales autorizados de la responsabilidad por la pérdida o el daño del vehículo de Avis, una vez que se satisfagan los términos y las condiciones que exhibe la funda del documento de alquiler. Al momento del alquiler, el cliente debe indicar con sus iniciales si acepta o rechaza la LDW y los servicios opcionales. La aceptación de la LDW y los servicios opcionales se deben rubricar en el mostrador de alquiler.
La LDW está sujeta a impuestos.

Si no se acepta la LDW, el cliente es responsable financieramente del valor total de lo siguiente:

• Daño por accidente
• Daño del vidrio
• Accesorios hurtados (radio, batería, etc.)
• Vandalismo
• Hurto del vehículo

Excepciones:

En Wisconsin, si el cliente no acepta la LDW, será responsable de la pérdida de o los daños al vehículo de Avis que resulten de un accidente o de un comportamiento imprudente o irresponsable.

En Illinois, si el cliente no acepta la LDW, será económicamente responsable de los siguientes tipos de daños, y el monto de la responsabilidad variará dependiendo del grupo del vehículo alquilado, desde $20,000.00 y hasta un máximo de $42,000.00 para alquileres:

• Daño por accidente
• Daño del vidrio
• Accesorios hurtados (radio, batería, etc.)
• Vandalismo
• Hurto del vehículo

Cancelación de LDW
Luego de adquirir la LDW, esta debe permanecer en el contrato. El cliente tiene la opción de devolver el vehículo y terminar el contrato de alquiler; sin embargo, esto puede cambiar la tarifa del contrato de alquiler y podría aplicarse una tarifa diferente, posiblemente mayor, para un nuevo alquiler.

Excepciones:
Los clientes que alquilen en Nueva York y adquieran la LDW en Nueva York pueden decidir cancelar sin costo alguno este servicio, dentro de ciertos lineamientos:

• El alquiler debe ser de 2 o más días.
• La cancelación se debe realizar dentro de las primeras 24 horas del alquiler.
• El cliente real debe llevar el vehículo a una oficina para la correspondiente inspección y firmar el aviso de cancelación.

Lucro cesante
El cliente también puede ser responsable de reembolsar a Avis por los ingresos perdidos por no poder usar el vehículo durante la reparación del mismo o por no recuperarlo por haber sido robado (lo que se conoce como Lucro cesante).

Las coberturas de seguro globales siempre están sujetas a cambio. Verifique al momento del alquiler.

Avis acepta la mayoría de las tarjetas de crédito reconocidas al momento del alquiler como identificación de crédito.  El nombre del cliente debe estar en la tarjeta de crédito.

Lista de tarjetas de crédito aceptadas:  Tarjeta de pago Avis, American Express, AT&T Capital, Diner's Club Int'l, Discover, China UnionPay, JCB, MasterCard y Visa.  Algunas oficinas pudieran no aceptar alguna de las tarjetas de pago mencionadas.

Puede que Avis solicite la retención de un monto en su cuenta por el total estimado de los cargos de alquiler, pero se reserva el derecho, a su entera discreción, de solicitar un monto mayor dependiendo de algunos factores según considere apropiado:

• La mayoría de los alquileres requerirán una retención de autorización de los cargos estimados por alquiler, más $200.00.
• Si usted paga el alquiler por adelantado, el monto retenido será de 250.00 USD.

Las oficinas participantes aceptan tarjetas de débito; no obstante, deben tener un logotipo de procesamiento bancario aceptado (Visa, MasterCard, AMEX, Discover, etc.) en el momento del alquiler si tiene al menos 25 años de edad, con los siguientes requisitos:

• El nombre del cliente debe estar en la tarjeta de débito.

At time of pick-up, driver must present a valid, U.S.-issued driver's license and credit card (or debit card at participating locations) in the driver's name.  If the driver's license is not issued in the U.S., you must present your drivers license and either a passport or a Canadian enhanced license in the driver's name.

Restrictions

• Customers who are renting (reservation, walkup or upsell) an Avis Signature Series (all Group X vehicles) and presents a non-U.S. issued driver's license along with a U.S. address during the qualification process will also be required to produce a non-U.S. issued passport from the same country identified on the driver's license that is presented.
• Renters presenting a driver's license from Mali or Cameroon who wish to rent a vehicle other than car groups A-E MUST also present an International Driver's Permit and a valid passport from the same country identified on the driver's license.  These renters WILL also be required to present a secondary form of credit identification to complete the rental process.

Public liability insurance is in accordance with the insurance laws of the country.  Customer may inquire at the time of rental for additional information of the benefits, conditions and acceptance.

Note: Some credit cards provide insurance coverage, with certain limitations, as a benefit of using the card to rent vehicles.  The customer is advised to contact the card issuer before the rental.  Any waiver must be discussed directly with the location upon arrival.

All additional drivers must be at least 25 years of age. The following are exempt from the additional driver fee but must meet all other driver requirements: the renter's employer or fellow employee when on company business and renting under a corporate account; the renter's spouse or domestic partner; the companion driver of a renter with a disability who has completed the non-licensed renter form; for insurance replacement rentals, company employees or family members who are designated on the insurance policy. All other additional drivers must complete and sign an additional driver form and present valid credit identification. A maximum of two additional drivers may complete a form.

For all US states other than NV and NY, the additional driver fee is $13 per day per driver with a maximum charge of $65 per driver. The fee in New York is $5 per day, $35 per week, per driver. The fee in Nevada is $11 per day per driver with a maximum of $55 per driver.

• A Frequent Traveler Program Surcharge or Excise Tax of up to $1.50 per day may be applied and will be assessed in connection with miles, points or credits earned pursuant to this reservation.
• Extensions or late returns may result in additional charges.

A customer renting a Luxury Car, Minivan, 12-Passenger Van, Full-Size SUV, Premium SUV, Standard Elite SUV or any vehicle in the Specialty/Signature Series/Cool Car categories must be at least 25 years old.

• Exception: A customer with an acceptable corporate discount number can rent the above car classes at 21 years old without an underage fee.

For all other car classes, a customer presenting a major charge card must be at least 21 years old.  An underage surcharge of $27.00 per day will apply for renters 21-24 years old.

• Exception: A customer presenting a major charge card with an acceptable corporate discount number can rent at 18 years old without an underage fee.

A customer presenting an acceptable bank debit card must be at least 25 years old.  (See Debit Card Policies for acceptable car groups and full details.)

• Exception: A customer presenting an acceptable bank debit card with a corporate discount number can rent at 21 years old without an underage fee.

A customer presenting an Avis charge card, government-issued Visa/MasterCard or government travel/purchase orders can rent any car class at age 18 without an underage fee.

At the time of rental, the renter or authorized driver may be subject to an electronic DMV check from the issuing state of the driver's license, or may be asked to sign a declaration attesting to specific criteria:

• The renter/authorized driver has a valid license that is not currently suspended, expired, revoked, canceled or surrendered.
• The renter/authorized driver has not, within the last 36 months had 1 or more convictions for reckless driving.
• The renter/authorized driver has not, within the last 36 months had 1 or more convictions for driving under the influence (DUI), driving while intoxicated (DWI), or driving while alcohol impaired (DWAI).
• The renter/authorized driver has not, within the last 36 months failed to report or leave the scene of an accident.
• The renter/authorized driver has never been in possession of a stolen vehicle or used a vehicle in a crime.
• The renter/authorized driver has not, within the last 24 months had 3 or more convictions for moving violations (including seat belt violations).
• The renter/authorized driver has not, within the last 36 months had 3 or more accidents

Fuel Service Charge. Most rentals come with a full tank of fuel, but that is not always the case.

Where available, if permitted by law, if you drive less than 75 miles, you acknowledge that we will add a flat fee to the rental, the amount of which will be disclosed on the Rental Contract and at the counter prior to rental. You may avoid this charge at time of return by providing a receipt for fuel purchased at which time the flat fee will be reversed from your total rental charges. If this subparagraph (a) does not apply, there are three refueling options:

1) If you do not accept the fuel service option, where available, at the beginning of your rental, and you return the car with less fuel than was in it when you received it, as we determine in our sole discretion, we will charge you a fuel service charge at the applicable rate per-mile or rate per-gallon specified on the Rental Contract or disclosed at the location. The per-mile rate is used if you do not buy fuel during the rental. To calculate this amount, we multiply the number of miles driven, as shown on the car’s odometer (or provided by the vehicle's telematics device), times the per-mile rate shown on the Rental Contract. The per gallon rate is used if you buy fuel during the rental and provide us with a receipt on our request, but the tank is not as full when you return the car as when you received the car (by using the factory installed gauge, rounded down to the nearest 1/8 tank), times the per-gallon rate shown on the Rental Contract.

Although two methods are used for ease of calculation, the per mile and per-gallon rates produce approximately the same result. Some of our cars are equipped with onboard telematics which record the actual amounts of fuel in the gas tank. In the event your car has such a device, you will be charged for the actual amount of gasoline needed to fill the tank based on the reading of this device.

2) If you accept the fuel service option at the beginning of your rental, you will be charged as shown on the Rental Contract for that purchase and you will not pay us a fuel service charge. If you choose this option, you will not incur an additional fuel service charge, but you will not receive any credit for fuel left in the tank at the time of return.  If you accept the partial fuel service option at the beginning of your rental, you will be charged as shown on the Rental Contract for that purchase and you will pay a fuel service charge for any fuel not covered by the partial fuel service option. The per-gallon cost of the fuel service option will always be lower than the fuel service charge. The cost of refueling the car yourself at a local service station may be lower than the fuel service charge or the fuel service option. You acknowledge that the fuel service charge is not a retail sale of fuel.

3) You may avoid a fuel service charge if you return the car with the fuel tank as full as when you received it and, if requested by us, present a receipt for your fuel purchase. If you put fuel into the car, you must use the correct fuel (having the grade of gasoline stated on the car fuel information decal, or on-road diesel). Do not use ethanol fuel even if the car states that it is a flex-fuel vehicle.

Renters who have indicated a country of residence outside of the US will be required to present a non US issued drivers license and a non US issued passport OR an international airline ticket at the time of rental to qualify for the rate.

If you have added any of the following rental options to your reservations, terms and conditions may apply.

GPS:

• Available at participating locations.
• Minimum age is 25 but may vary by locations, underage surcharges may apply at certain locations.
• Reliability of directions subject to timing of software implementation as well as that of which has been provided by the maker of the installed maps.
• I (renter) acknowledge that the rental vehicle may be equipped with GPS (global positioning satellite system). I acknowledge that the satellite system may be limited by atmospheric or topographical conditions. I further acknowledge that the GPS unit may be rendered inoperative if it is tampered with or destroyed and or damaged in an accident or if the satellite systems are obstructed and inoperative.
• Customer is responsible for all costs in the event of lost, stolen or damaged GPS unit and all of its components.
• Renter agrees to release and hold Avis harmless for any GPS unit failures. 

Gas Service Option

• Fees for the Gas Service Option are not included in the Estimated Total.
• Fees are assessed and applied at the time of rental.
• Fees vary by location and are determined by current market value of gasoline in surrounding area of rental location and the fuel tank size of rental vehicle.
• Customer will receive no credit or refund for unused fuel left in tank at time of return.

Roadside Assistance

• Taxes not included in the Estimated Total will be applied at the time of rental.
• Roadside Assistance service is available at all participating locations in the U.S., Canada, Puerto Rico, & U.S. Virgin Islands and New Zealand.
• Roadside Assistance covers the cost for assistance with key replacement, lockouts, tire change service fee, jump starts and emergency fuel delivery (up to 3 gallons).
• Prohibited use of the vehicle will void this option.

SiriusXM®

• Taxes not included in the Estimated Total will be applied at the time of rental.
• Available at participating U.S. locations  

Other Options

• Rental options not selected/offered on the avis.com website can not be modified online.
• Taxes not included in the Estimated Total will be applied at the time of rental.
• Any modifications to these rental options must be made by contacting customer service or can be made at the rental counter.

Due to winter conditions between November 15 and March 15 the entire Avis fleet in Germany is equipped with winter tires. The fee for winter tires is included in the total price.

How old do I need to be to drive a rental vehicle?

To drive our vehicles, you and all of your drivers need to be at least 19 years old and have held a full, valid driving licence for at least 1/2 year at the start of your rental. Renters under 21 can only rent car group A. Renters 21 and up can rent all car groups except for car groups F, J and all Porsche vehicles, the renter must be 25. .

I'm under 25; do I need to pay a young driver surcharge?

If you or any of your drivers are under 25 when you pick up the vehicle, you will each have to pay a young driver surcharge. The cost for this will depend on where you are picking the vehicle up from but you can expect it to be between 11,90 EUR and 14,64 EUR per day, for each driver.
If you rent the vehicle for more than 10 days, you will only be charged for a maximum of 10 days and get cover for the duration of your rental, up to 31 days.

Are there any maximum age restrictions?

No, so long as you hold a full, valid driving licence for at least 1/2 year.

Towing is not permitted. Vehicles cannot be used to tow or push anything.  A trailer hitch cannot be installed on the vehicles.

Can I pick up the vehicle from one rental location and return it to another?
Yes, some rental locations let you collect the vehicle and any optional extras from one rental location and return them to another.
How much is the One-Way fee?
The price depends on the rental location. If you want to pick up the vehicle and return it to a different location in the same country, you can expect it to be between 15 EUR and 33,21 EUR. If you want to pick up the vehicle in one country and drop it off in another country, you can expect it to be between 100 EUR and 4.500 EUR.
How do I get a One-Way rental?
You can request a one-way rental when you book or you can ask for it when you get to the rental location.
If you asked for a one-way rental when you booked, the fee will be included in your rental price.
How much will it cost if I did not request a One-Way rental but return the vehicle to a different location?
You will be charged a one-way fee at the pay at location prices available on the day you return the vehicle.

Customers with disabilities

I have a disability, do you offer adapted vehicles?
Yes, specially adapted vehicles are available at some of our rental locations. Please call the Reservations team for more information.
I have a disability, do you offer hand controls?
No, regrettably, we do not currently offer hand controls or panoramic mirrors at this time.

Popular optional extras to rent

I have small children, do you offer child seats?
Yes, we offer baby, infant, and child seats. A baby seat is typically suitable for a child from birth to 12 months old and weighing no more than 13 kilos. An infant seat is typically suitable for a child aged 9 months to 4 years old and weighing between 9 and 18 kilos. A child seat is typically suitable for a child aged 4 to 12 years old and weighing between 15 and 36 kilos.
In some rental locations, we may arrange for a third party to fit the seat for you. But remember, it is always your responsibility to check the seat is fitted correctly before you drive away.
Please note: In the Germany, all children must normally use a child car seat until they are 12 years old or 150 cm tall.
How much are your child seats?
The fee for renting a seat will depend on where you're renting but you can expect it to cost between EUR 13.00 and EUR 16.31 a day. If you rent the vehicle for more than 6 days, you'll only be charged for a maximum EUR 86.59 and get to use the seat for the duration of your rental, up to 28 days.
If the seat is damaged, lost or stolen, and if you are responsible for that, you will have to pay for a replacement. The costs of this are based on the replacement value and based on experience, range between EUR 80.00 and EUR 200.00 plus the rental costs.
I am not familiar with the area; can I rent a GPS (satellite navigation system)?
Yes, the fee for renting a GPS will depend on where you're renting but you can expect it to cost between EUR 11.00 and EUR 13.80 a day. If you rent the vehicle for more than 14 days, you will only be charged for a maximum of 14 days and get to use the GPS for the duration of your rental, up to 28 days.

If the GPS is damaged, lost or stolen, and if you are responsible for that, you will have to pay for a replacement. The costs of this are based on the replacement value and based on experience, range between 209.00 EUR and 260.00 EUR plus the rental costs.
Please note: In some countries, it is against the law to use a GPS that tells you where speed cameras are. It is illegal in Germany. If you rent a GPS from us, it won't give you speed camera information.
Do you offer an audio tour guide service on your GPS?
Yes, it is available with the Travel Companion Full Version at selected stations.
I want to be able to access the internet anywhere I go, do you offer a solution?
Yes, we offer Travel Companion Full Version at selected stations. Here you can connect to 5 devices with unlimited data usage and unlimited international calls. We provide this service on behalf of a third party so you will need to read and agree to separate terms and conditions with them. This terms and conditions have to be signed by yourself on the device at time of rental.
Please note: In many countries, including the Germany, it is illegal to drive while using a handheld mobile phone, tablet or other communications device. It is your responsibility to drive safely and according to the laws of the country you are driving in.
How much does Travel Companion Full version cost?
The fee for hiring Travel Companion Full version will depend on where you're renting but you can expect it to be between EUR 13.80 and EUR 16.80 a day. If you rent the vehicle for more than 14 days, you'll only be charged for a maximum of 14 days and get to use the Travel Companion Full Version (TCT) for the duration of your rental, up to 28 days.
If the mobile Travel Companion device is damaged, lost or stolen, and if you are responsible for that, you will have to pay for a replacement. The costs of this are based on the replacement value and based on experience, amount to EUR 260.00 plus the rental costs.
If any mobile accessories are damaged, lost or stolen, and if you are responsible for that, you will have to pay for a replacement. The costs of this are expected to range between EUR 10.00 and EUR 150.00 plus the rental costs.
I am intending to drive along toll roads; do you offer a device to make this quicker and easier for me?
No, unfortunately we do not offer any electronic toll charging devices at this time.

Winter equipment to rent

I am concerned about the road conditions, do you offer all-weather tyres?
Yes, if the rental location you are hiring from is in an area where it’s illegal to drive without all-weather tyres at certain times of year, the vehicle will automatically be supplied with them and the fee will be included in your rental fee or contract.
We can also supply all-weather tyres for a fee. This will depend on where you’re renting but you can expect it to be between 15 EUR and 18,70 EUR a day. If you rent the vehicle for more than 10 days, you will only be charged for a maximum of 10 days and get to use the all-weather tyres for the duration of your rental, up to 28 days.

During winter season (15 November to 15 March), our rental vehicles in germany are equipped with winter tyres. The fee for this is already included in the rental price (deviations possible for business customers).
If any all-weather tyre is damaged, lost or stolen, and if you are responsible for that, you will have to pay for a replacement pair. The costs of this are based on the replacement value and based on experience, amount to EUR 150.00 and EUR 400.00 plus the rental costs.
In the event that your rental does not already contain all-weather tyres and you want to have these tyres, please notify us at least 24 hours in advance. If you need them at shorter notice, please call the Reservations team.

I am going skiing, do you offer snow chains?
Yes, if the rental location you are hiring from is in an area where it is illegal to drive without Snow Chains or all-weather tyres at certain times of year, the vehicle will automatically be supplied with snow chains and the fee will be included in your rental fee. You can ask not to have these but we recommend that you take either snow chains or all-weather tyres at these locations.
Snow chains are also available in some other rental locations. The fee for snow chains depends on where you are renting but you can expect it to be between 72.00 EUR and 90.35 EUR a rental.
If any snow chain is damaged, lost or stolen, you will have to pay for a replacement pair. The costs of this are based on the replacement value and based on experience, rate between 69 EUR and 100 EUR plus rental costs.
We can not fit snow chains for you, and we can not arrange for them to be fitted.
