Find your perfect hire car at Fethiye

The Muğla Province, settled on Turkey’s southwest edge, is blessed with impeccable coastline, lively cities and picture-perfect towns.

Far down at its southern end sits Fethiye – a charming destination on the Mediterranean, attracting hordes of tourists each year.

Hire a car from Avis in Fethiye to discover why.

Plan your journey from Fethiye

Collect your rental car at the Avis office near the Yat Limani marina and it’s only a short drive from all that the region has to offer. Boasting perhaps the most beautiful harbour in the whole Muğla Province, Fethiye is a dream destination for holidaymakers looking for sunshine and the seaside.

Telmessos is Fethiye’s most famous sight. This ancient settlement was the only surviving section of the city after the 1958 earthquake. The huge Temple of Amyntas is situated here, which was carved into a rock face in 350 BC. There is also a Lycian stone sarcophagi from 450 BC located here, and a 6,000-seat Roman theatre. To learn more about Telmessos, visit the Fethiye Museum, which exhibits treasures both from it and other ancient settlements in the area. History buffs will also be impressed with the Crusader Fortress overlooking Fethiye, which was built in the 15th century by the Knights of St. John.

Known as the Turquoise Coast, the sandy stretches in the region are among the best in the Mediterranean. The beautiful Çaliş beach is a particularly popular spot. Located just 5km from the city centre, it’s surrounded by hotels, pubs and eateries. For a more relaxed alternative, drive to Ölüdeniz, just south of Fethiye, and walk 30 minutes to the beach of the same name. This quiet, serene spot is well worth the trip.

The bay that Feithye is situated on is dotted with idyllic islands, accessible by boat and perfect for a day of complete relaxation. Şövalye Adası stands out from the others and was used as a set in the James Bond film, Skyfall.

Fethiye is a historic beauty best explored by car.

Beyond Fethiye

Accelerate beyond the borders of Fethiye and discover more fascinating attractions and stunning landscapes. Beach towns and sleepy villages will leave you in awe.

Akyaka

Akyaka is a 90-minute drive from Fethiye up the D400. This small town on the Aegean Coast serves up a delicious blend of local and international cuisine and is considered the food capital of Turkey. Nature lovers will be impressed by the flawless coastline and pretty harbour. There is also ample opportunity for hiking and cycling in the nearby forested hills. The town has a small market well-worth visiting, alongside many coffee houses offering the perfect pit stop.

Marmaris

Nestled in a verdant bay with a hilltop castle overlooking it, Marmaris is an attractive destination. Just under a two-hour drive from Fethiye, Marmaris has transformed from a once quiet fishing village to a lively resort town with a vibrant nightlife. Many visitors are drawn here for the sailing and diving, but you can also easily spend a day wandering the Old Town and harbour, taking in the views.

Turkey is yours to explore. Just collect the keys to your Avis hire car and take to the road from Fethiye.
