To use our free pick-up service, call your A rental location directly at the location phone number listed on your reservation confirmation. Pick-up service policies (hours of availability, allowable pick-up distance, etc.) vary by location so it's important that you call the location and make arrangements for pick-up at least 24 hours before your desired rental time. When you call the location, be ready to provide all applicable information including precise address, exact time of pick up, and a phone number where you can be reached at that time.
Please note that an off-airport Budget location cannot pick you up at an airport that has a Budget location. In this case, either you must rent your car at the airport location, or provide your own transportation to the off-airport location where you prefer to rent

Credit Card Policies
Avis generally accepted credit and debit cards include; Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Diners Club and an Avis Charge Card. However, some locations may not accept all card types.
At commencement of rental, Avis does not accept a prepaid or reloadable stored value card, a travel money card or an EFTPOS card. Avis also does not accept cards presented on phones/watches and doesn't allow contactless payment methods such as pay-wave. A physical credit or debit card must be presented at the start of rental. At the end of the rental, some Avis locations will accept a prepaid or reloadable stored value card as a final form of payment.
Please Note: Rentals paid for by a valid credit/debit card will be subject to a card transaction fee of 1.29% (including GST) at time of pick-up.
Pay Now: If the names on the credit card do not match the credit card used at Reservation, it may be deemed as a non-permissible change to your Pay Now reservation. You may be required to cancel and re-book at the current rates (including any reasonable and applicable cancellation fees).
Avis Australia may require a customer renting a vehicle to complete a Rental Qualification Form and provide additional identification as it deems necessary or appropriate or in accordance with applicable law. Please see Rental Qualification Policy.

Drivers License
The Driver must (i) hold a full, current and valid driving licence (not being a learners, provisional or restricted licence), (ii) have an International Driving Permit (IDP) or official translation (if licence is not in Roman alphabet), (iii) have held their licence for minimum 12 consecutive months immediately prior to signing the Rental Agreement.
An International Driving Permit is not a stand-alone document and this must be carried with your valid domestic driving licence for it to be valid.
Digital drivers licences (with the correct endorsements) are accepted for any Avis rental. All digital licences must be checked live at the time of rental, via the respective validation process. A screenshot or photo of the licence is not accepted.
A digital licence does not replace a physical licence and you should still carry your physical card, when travelling outside the issuing state or territory.

Additional Driver Policy
All additional drivers must meet the same minimum age & drivers licence requirements as the main renter. Each Additional Driver may be charged a daily fee. A young driver surcharge may apply.
Age Requirements
The minimum age to drive a vehicle with Avis is 21 years of age. All drivers must hold a current, full and valid drivers licence, that has been valid for a minimum of 12 consecutive months. A young driver surcharge may apply.
Cancellations
You may cancel your booking at any time by calling reservations or managing your booking online.
For Pay Now reservations, depending on when you cancel, you will be charged a cancellation or no-show fee.
- If you need to cancel at least 24 hours prior to your scheduled pick-up time, you will be refunded the pre-paid amount less a cancellation fee of up to $82.50 AUD.
- If you need to cancel within 24 hours prior to the scheduled pick-up time, you will be refunded the pre-paid amount less a cancellation fee of up to $165.00 AUD.
- If the value of the reservation is less than the cancellation fee, you will not be charged any further amount and will not be entitled to any refund.
- If you fail to cancel your reservation prior to the pick-up time and do not collect the vehicle on the pick-up date, a no show fee of the entire prepaid amount will be forfeited.
- Amounts indicated above are inclusive of GST.
Fuel Policy
To help get you to your destination as easily as possible, we rent our vehicles with a full tank of fuel. We would appreciate if the vehicle was also returned with a full tank but understand that life sometimes gets in the way, so if you aren't able to fill up on return, a refuelling charge will be applicable. To ensure there are no surprises, that rate will be available at the time of collection. Alternatively, a pre-paid fuel option, which is available from select locations, can take the hassle out of finding a petrol station on your return.
Modifying Your Booking
- You may change your booking (whether a Pay Now or Pay at Location booking) any time before the day you are due to pick-up the vehicle by calling reservations or managing your booking online (if available). We will send you a revised booking confirmation email confirming your new booking details. For Pay Now reservations, the additional amount to be paid will be charged at time of rental pick up.
- For Pay Now reservations, if you return the vehicle before the original return date (early return), you will not be refunded any portion of your payment. This does not detract from your rights as a consumer under applicable consumer protection legislation, including the Australian Consumer Law.
- Modifying or returning your vehicle to a different location, changing the dates or the rental duration, will result in the reservation being recalculated at the new daily rates and any applicable one way fees or other charges may apply.

The collection, use, disclosure and retention of your information, including your personal information, provided to us in connection with payment for our services and products, or participation in our programs, whether directly by you or on your behalf through a payment service, is subject our Privacy Notice located on our website or in the terms and conditions of the Rental Agreement and the Privacy Act 1988.
One Way Rentals
Can I pick up the vehicle from one rental location and return it to another?
Yes, some rental locations let you collect the vehicle and any optional extras from one rental location and return them to another.
How much is the One Way fee?
The price depends on the rental location. If you want to pick up the vehicle and return it to a different location in the same country, you can expect it to be between £20.00 and £70.00. If you want to pick up the vehicle in the UK Mainland and drop it off in another country, you can expect it to be between £700 and £4,000.
How do I get a One Way rental?
You can request a one-way rental when you book, or you can ask for it when you get to the rental location.
If you asked for a one-way rental when you booked, the fee will be included in your rental price.
How much will it cost if I did not request a One Way rental but return the vehicle to a different location?
You will be charged a one-way fee at the pay at location prices available on the day you return the vehicle.

The prices we give you for optional extras when you book will generally be the price you will pay. Exchange rates or other reasons beyond our control may alter prices.
Customers with disabilities
I have a disability, do you offer adapted vehicles?
Yes, specially adapted vehicles are available at some of our rental locations. Please call the Reservations team for more information.
I have a disability, do you offer hand controls?
Yes, we offer hand controls which are suitable if you have good use of your upper body, including hands and fingers. Hand controls include a hand-operated brake, accelerator controls, a steering ball and panoramic mirrors are also available. If you need them, they're completely free of charge.
To use hand controls, you will need to book an automatic vehicle. Please give us at least 48 hours' notice if you hand controls or panoramic mirrors fitted to the vehicle. If you need them at shorter notice, please call the Reservations team.
Popular optional extras to rent
I have small children, do you offer child seats?
Yes, we offer baby, infant, child and full backed booster seats. A baby seat is typically suitable for a child from birth to 12 months old and weighing no more than 13 kilos. An infant seat is typically suitable for a child aged 9 months to 4 years old and weighing between 9 and 18 kilos. A child seat is typically suitable for a child aged 4 to 11 years old and weighing between 15 and 36 kilos. A booster seat is typically suitable for a child aged 8 to 11 years old and weighing between 20 and 45 kilos.
In some rental locations, we may arrange for a third party to fit the seat for you. But remember, it is always your responsibility to check the seat is fitted correctly before you drive away.
Please note: In the United Kingdom all children must normally use a child car seat until they're 12 years old or 135cm tall.
How much are your child seats?
The fee for renting a seat is £11.99 a day. If you rent the vehicle for more than 7 days, you'll only be charged for a maximum of 7 days and get to use the seat for the duration of your rental, up to 28 days.
If the seat is damaged, lost or stolen, you will have to pay for a replacement. This is likely to cost between £60.00 and £90.00 on top of the hire fee. If you can show the damage or loss was not in any way your fault or due to your negligence, we will refund this cost to you.
I'm not familiar with the area; can I rent a GPS (satellite navigation system)?Travel Companion Tablet - This provides a GPS service as well as other useful features you may need when travelling. The fee for hiring Travel Companion Tablet is between £9.99 and £14.99 per day depending on features activated. If you rent the vehicle for more than 10 days, you'll only be charged for a maximum of 10 days and get to use the device for the duration of your rental, up to 28 days. If the Travel Companion Tablet is damaged, lost or stolen, you'll have to pay for a replacement. This is likely to cost from £300.00 on top of the hire fee. If you can show the damage or loss was not in any way your fault or due to your negligence, we will refund this cost to you.
Please note: In some countries, it is against the law to use a GPS that tells you where speed cameras are. If you plan to travel outside of the United Kingdom you should check to see whether you can use our GPS as it will give you speed information.
Do you offer an audio tour guide service on your GPS?
No, unfortunately we do not offer an audio tour guide service at this time.
I want to be able to access the internet anywhere I go, do you offer a solution?
Travel Companion Tablet - This provides unlimited data per day, as well as other useful features you may need when travelling. The fee for hiring Travel Companion Tablet is between £9.99 and £14.99 a day depending on features activated. If you rent the vehicle for more than 10 days, you'll only be charged for a maximum of 10 days and get to use the device for the duration of your rental, up to 28 days.
If the Travel Companion Tablet is damaged, lost or stolen, you’ll have to pay for a replacement. This is likely to cost from £300.00 on top of the hire fee. If you can show the damage or loss was not in any way your fault or due to your negligence, we will refund this cost to you. If any Travel Companion Tablet accessories are damaged, lost or stolen, you'll have to pay for a replacement. This is likely to cost from £2.00 to £10.00 on top of the hire fee. Please note: In many countries, including the United Kingdom, it is illegal to drive while using a handheld mobile phone, tablet or other communications device. It is your responsibility to drive safely and according to the laws of the country you're driving in.

When renting a vehicle from the Signature Series range specific Terms and Conditions apply.
- Debit cards are not permitted.
- At the start of your rental, a hold will be placed on your card for the total estimated rental charges plus an additional pre-authorisation of $200 on credit card.
- Drivers must hold a full valid drivers licence (not being a learners or provisional licence) and be over 25 years of age.
- Local Renters - The Local Airport Qualification Form must be completed with 2 contact telephone numbers. A second form of identification will be required for your booking. You will be required to provide proof of your current address that matches your current driver¿s licence. An example of the acceptable form of ID is a current utility or phone bill.
- Interstate one-way rentals are not permitted on Signature Series vehicles.
