What is the Avis First program?
Avis First is our newest way to reward our most frequent customers. Replacing the Avis Preferred Select program, Avis First puts the needs of our customers "FIRST" by offering an unprecedented rewards program including weekend rental rewards*, a member only website, and a dedicated, toll free reservation number to name just a few. With Avis First, you'll not only be "first" in line, but also "first" to receive weekend rental rewards, free upgrades (when available), and the best service in the industry.
What are the benefits of the Avis First program?
Avis First members not only have access to some the finest vehicles in the rental car industry, but also an abundance of high end services including:
- Continued access to Avis Preferred Service - skip the lines and go directly to your vehicle
- *Weekend rental rewards of time and mileage can be earned with every fourth qualifying rental (each rental must have a minimum of 2 consecutive paid rental days). See reward fulfillment email for full terms and conditions.
- Upgrades, when available - to arrive at your destination in style
- An exclusive, toll free, reservation number line to assist with any questions or needs you may have with regard to your rental
- A password-protected website, exclusive to Avis First members that will provide you with access to all of your rentals and reward information.
How many weekend rental rewards can I earn in one year?
An Avis First member can earn up to 8 coupons for weekend rental rewards in one calendar year. All weekend rental rewards earned will be sent in the form of a coupon to the email address provided upon activation.
What are the terms and conditions for my weekend rental reward?
The first weekend rental reward coupon is received upon activation of your Avis First membership. Subsequent weekend rental reward coupons are earned after every fourth qualifying rental of two or more qualifying days. Rental and Rental day credit will not be earned on rentals that receive mileage/credits/points for a frequent traveler program (i.e. airline frequent flyer, hotel points program, etc.). As an Avis First member, you can earn a maximum of eight (8) weekend rental rewards in a calendar year.
Offer of two consecutive weekend days free of the daily time and mileage charges applies on an intermediate (group C) through a full-size four-door (group E) car. Taxes, concession recovery fees, vehicle license recovery fee, customer facility charges ($10/contract in California) may apply and are extra. Optional products such as LDW ($29.99/day or less, except in Louisiana $49.99/day) and refueling are extra. Weekend rental period begins Thursday and car must be returned by Monday 11:59 p.m. or a higher rate will apply. A Saturday night keep is required. Holiday and other blackout periods may apply. If a rental begins during a blackout period, the whole rental is blacked out and does not qualify for use of a coupon. Weekend rental reward coupon cannot be used for one-way rentals. Weekend rental reward coupons valid for six (6) months from date of issuance. Avis reserves the right to alter the terms and conditions and use of coupons. Are the coupons for my weekend rental rewards accepted at all Avis locations?
The coupons for your weekend rental rewards are valid at participating Avis locations in the U.S. (excluding the NY Metro area), Canada, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
How does this differ from Avis Preferred Select program?
The Avis First program has been designed to not only replace, but improve upon the Avis Preferred Select program. The Avis First program offers Avis First members an increased opportunity to earn weekend rental rewards, upgrades and service and also offers a members-only website, dedicated customer care and email communications to inform a customer that he/she has reached the threshold and can now activate their membership.
How do I qualify for the Avis First program?
Membership to the Avis First program is by invitation only. To qualify, customers must be a U.S. resident and enrolled in the Avis Preferred Service program and complete twelve or more qualifying rentals (or a cumulative rental day total of 35 or more qualifying days in a calendar year) on one Wizard number. Please note that all rentals must be checked out and checked in within the same calendar year to qualify for the Avis First Program.
How do I participate in the Avis First program?
Once you have qualified for Avis First, you will receive an invitation to enroll in the Avis First program. You will receive your Avis First identification card and invitation package including directions to activate your membership. Upon activation, you will receive an email confirmation (within two weeks), including your first reward, a weekend rental reward and the ability to earn additional weekend rental rewards for every four qualifying rentals of a minimum of two consecutive paid rental days.
Can I earn weekend rental reward coupons on rentals that receive mileage/credits/points for a frequent traveler program?
No, Rental and Rental day credit will not be earned on rentals that receive mileage/credits/points for a frequent traveler program (i.e. airline frequent flyer, hotel points program, etc.).
Can I participate in Avis First without an email address?
Internet Access and a valid email address are both critical for participation in this program. The weekend rental rewards are only delivered by email as well as most of the member communications. Your rental records and reward information are also accessible via our program website, www.avisfirst.com, which can only be accessed by providing a valid email address.
You can participate in Avis First without an email address, however, you will not receive the weekend rental rewards. If you choose not to activate your membership and provide an email address, you can still take advantage of other Avis First benefits such as: free upgrades upon availability, a dedicated reservation line and continued Preferred Service.
Will my Wizard Number remain the same?
Your Wizard number that was previously used for other Avis programs will remain the same.
What communications can I expect to receive?
Once you qualify for membership in the Avis First program, you will receive your new membership card and activation kit via mail. Upon activation of your account, you will receive a confirmation email (within two weeks) including a coupon with your first weekend rental reward. Customers who activate their membership will also receive other emails pertaining to the Avis First program benefits (i.e. additional earned weekend rental rewards) and special offers.
Do I still make my reservations on Avis.com?
Reservations for Avis First members can be made on www.avis.com, or via your exclusive website, www.avisfirst.com. Please remember to use your Wizard Number to ensure the reservation is tracked.
What type of Customer Service is available with Avis First?
As a member of the Avis First program, you not only have access to our exclusive website, www.avisfirst.com with account information and rental history, but you also have the benefit of an exclusive, toll free number to service your needs 24 hours a day.
Will my membership in this program expire?
Membership in the Avis First program is based on your rental activity within a calendar year. In order to remain in the Avis First program, you must complete twelve or more paid rentals (or a paid cumulative rental day total of 35 or more days in a calendar year) on one Wizard number. Once you complete your rental requirements, your membership will be automatically renewed for one additional calendar year. If your rentals do not meet the requirements for the Avis First program, your membership will be returned to the Avis Preferred Service program. The following expiration rules apply:
- In your inaugural membership year of Avis First, your expiration date will be set to December 31st of the following year.
- As an example, if you first become a member of Avis First on July 2007 your expiration date will be set to December 2008.
- In all subsequent years that you remain a member, your expiration date will advance one year at a time.
As an example, if your current expiration date is set to December 2007 and at that time you still qualify for Avis First, your membership will be renewed and your expiration date will be advanced to December 31st 2008.
- The expiration date for former Preferred Select members who were enrolled in Avis First on program launch date are set to December 31, 2007 as we are replacing one program with another and thus you were qualified by reviewing your 2006 rental history.
