La souscription de la Suppression de franchise perte (SFP) réduit la responsabilité financière du locataire et des conducteurs additionnels autorisés de 250 CAD à 2 500 CAD sur la catégorie de groupe confirmée, en cas de dommages ou de vol du véhicule au cours de la durée du contrat de location. L’utilisation du véhicule en violation de l’une des restrictions d’utilisation indiquées dans le contrat de location annulerait la SFPD et le locataire serait alors entièrement responsable des dommages subis par le véhicule.

La suppression de franchise partielle pertes et dommages (SFPPD) est disponible dans certaines succursales et réduit la responsabilité du locataire des 1 000 premiers dollars pour la perte ou les dommages du véhicule Avis.

At the time of rental, the driver must present a valid drivers license in the drivers name.  All customers must also present a second form of ID. Please refer to the Additional Information topic for details.
Canada licenses required by issuing province to rent a vehicle are:  Manitoba requires Class 5 Full (F), New Brunswick requires Class 7 (level 2 only) and Class 5, Ontario requires Class G & G2 and all other provinces require Class 5.

Customers presenting a drivers license in a non-Roman alphabet must also present an International Driving Permit (IDP) in addition to their valid drivers license.

Personal Accident Insurance (PAI) and PAI-Plus are optional coverages the customer may purchase at the time of rental.

Personal Accident Insurance provides accidental death and medical expense benefits to the renter and all passengers in the Avis car.

Personal Accident Insurance Plus offers an Accidental Death and Dismemberment benefit.

PAI Plus offers an Accidental Death and Dismemberment Benefit of CAD 100,000 per accident for the renter and all passengers in the Avis vehicle.

Coverage for paralysis is CAD 100,000 for the renter and CAD 10,000 for each passenger.

PAI Plus also includes coverage for:

• Emergency transportation
• Emergency accomodations
• Road Hazard Service
• Towing
• Legal Defense
• Lost keys/remote
• Funeral Expenses

PAI Plus benefits described are payable in addition to any other insurance benefits.

Public liability insurance is in accordance with the insurance laws of the country.  Customer may inquire at the time of rental for additional information of the benefits, conditions and acceptance.

Note: Some credit cards provide insurance coverage, with certain limitations, as a benefit of using the card to rent vehicles.  The customer is advised to contact the card issuer before the rental.  Any waiver must be discussed directly with the location upon arrival.

Winter Tires are mandatory on certain roads or the renter/driver may be ticketed by RCMP.

QUEBEC -
It is mandatory that all vehicles registered in the province of Quebec be equipped with winter tires during the winter months of December through March. All rentals will be charged a daily Tire Management Fee up to 4.50 CAD per day for year-round tire maintenance.  The fee is subject to concession recovery fees, GST and QST.

ALL OTHER PROVINCES -
Winter tire equipped vehicles maybe available in the winter season for reservations at some locations. An additional fee up to 20.00 CAD per day will apply.  Fees vary by location and car group.

For vehicle Groups: F (Intermediate), G (Premium), H (Luxury), K (Convertible), P (Full Size Pickup), W (Standard), L (Full Size SUV), Z (Premium SUV) and all Group X (Specialty Vehicles).

At locations in Canada, you may be asked to provide an additional form of identification as a condition to rent a vehicle. Acceptable forms of additional identification are: 

• Military ID
• Certificate of Indian Status
• Canadian passport
• Canadian Permanent Resident Card
• Foreign passport that meets the requirements
• Nexus or Fast/Express card
• Non-driver's license issued by a province or territory
• ID card issued by the federal government, provincial or territorial government
• Credit card (other than the one being used for payment of rental) in Customer's name

Rather than requiring customers to be 25 to rent, Avis at this location now rents to customers between the ages of 21-24.  An underage surcharge may apply and will automatically be applied to the reservation. Additionally, the following restrictions also will apply for renters between the ages of 21-24: Rentals of luxury cars, mini-vans, 12-passenger vans, specialty cars, and SUVs will not be permitted.

Snow Tires are mandatory for rentals within the Province of Quebec, CA, during the Winter Season.  There will be a daily charge up to a maximum $3.99 CAD per day, applied to the rental.  Snow Tires may also be available within other locations in Canada, with a fee of $10.00 CAD per day charge.

Approximate total includes base rate, taxes, and surcharges. Items such as coupon discounts, child safety seats and gas are NOT included in the estimated total. Optional coverages and one-way fees are subject to tax in certain locations. This tax is not reflected in the Estimated Total.

Estimated total is subject to change based upon exchange rates at the time of rental.

The vehicle must be returned with a full tank of gas or there will be a charge for refueling.

Most locations offer a prepaid gas option which you can accept at the rental location.

If the vehicle is driven less than 125 kilometers there may be an additional refueling fee, unless a gas receipt is presented at time of return. The customer can check at the time of rental for complete details.

Mexico City Driving Restrictions: Driving cars in Mexico City is limited based on license plate and days of the week. Check with reservations or the counter for additional details.

Minimum age to rent is 25 years old for all car groups.  Renters between 21- 24 years old are subject to a young driver fee.  Young Driver (Underage) Fee is 130.00 MEP per day for all car groups, subject to tax and surcharges. No maximum charge. This policy is applicable to corporate rentals with a corporate rate.

Cars can be returned to other Avis locations within this country based on car availability.  Vehicles may be rented in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Hermosillo, Mexicali, Monterrey, Saltillo and Tijuana are allowed into the U.S., but must be returned to Mexico.  One-way rentals outside this country are not permitted.  Cars rented in Mexico cannot be terminated in the U.S.
