Avis offers several optional insurance plans and are available for an additional daily charge. Renters may (in many locations) purchase additional liability insurance at the time of rental. The Avis renter is responsible for all damage or theft of the Avis vehicle subject to certain exclusions contained in the Avis rental agreement.
For an additional fee, Avis will waive or limit the renter's liability through the purchase of a Loss Damage Waiver at the time of rental. In some cases, renters may be covered for loss or damage to the renter vehicle by their personal insurance or charge card. Such coverage may contain a deductible or may not be primary. Please check with your insurance company or credit card company before you rent.
Customers who reserve using their Wizard number will see insurance preferences as selected in their Wizard profile. For those with My Avis Accounts, you can make changes prior to creating your reservation by logging in and accessing Protections / Coverages. You may also visit the counter or call 1-866-842-5552 for assistance.
Renters may purchase loss damage waiver (LDW) that reduces the financial liability for loss or damage to the Avis car as long as they comply with the terms of the Avis rental agreement. Cost of LDW will vary by location, car group and rate. If you have rental car coverage through your personal insurance or charge card, LDW offers maximum protection while your personal insurance or charge card may contain a deductible.
Customer is liable for the full amount of the Avis vehicle if Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) is not taken. If CDW is purchased, the renter's liability is reduced to UKL 1000.00 for car group except groups K, M, N 1500.00 UKL.
Super CDW (SCDW) (taxable) - Optional at 9.58 UKL for groups A, B, 12.50 UKL C, E, G, I, P and 15.00 UKL for all other cars.
Reduces the Non-Waivable Excess (NWE) to zero for all car groups.
Personal Accident Insurance (PAI) provides accidental death benefits and emergency medical expense benefits to the renter and all passengers in the Avis car.

Personal Effects Protection insures the personal belongings of the renter and the immediate family members who are traveling with the renter. The maximum coverage is $600.00 per claim, with a maximum coverage for individuals of $1,800.00. Exceptions:

Renter may purchase Additional Liability Insurance (ALI) at the time of rental. ALI provides additional protection for bodily injury, death or property damage and increases the limits to $1,000,000 or $2,000,000 combined single limit depending on the location. When ALI is purchased, Avis will always provide the Financial Responsibility Limits (FRL) on a primary basis.
Roadside Assistance provides the added reassurance of having roadside service for items that are not normally included in the cost of a rental such as key replacement, fuel delivery, lock out service, jump start assistance or tire change service.
A customer that accepts Roadside Assistance can be reassured that all any of these service will be covered at no additional fee should they be needed. For example, if keys are locked in the car, Avis will provide the customer with a locksmith service to regain entry at no additional cost to the customer. In the event the customer has a dead battery, a service provider will be dispatched to assist at no additional cost to the customer.
