Please spend a moment reviewing these important terms because Avis wants you to be delighted with your rental experience!

At most airport locations proof of a return flight that coincides with the rental must be shown. Debit cards are also not accepted when renting specialty vehicles. In most cases U.S. locations will perform a credit check for debit card renters to determine credit worthiness at the time of rental. If we are unable to complete the credit check or the credit check fails you should be prepared to present a major credit card in your own name.

A reservation payment on Avis.com is a real-time transaction. Once you accept the terms and conditions, the card that is used to prepay this reservation will be immediately pre-authorized for the full amount of the estimated total charges along with a security deposit. Any unused funds secured on your credit or debit card will be released when you return the car and could take up to 10 business days to appear on your bank statement.

At the time of rental you will be required to present either the credit card or debit card used to make the “Pay Now” reservation. There are certain restrictions on the use of the debit card for qualification to rent. Most U.S. locations will accept bank debit cards with the Visa or Mastercard logo if you are at least 25 years of age.

What To Bring With You At the Rental Counter & What to Expect
  • To maintain security and help prevent fraud, this same credit or debit card MUST BE presented as ID, but you may use other forms of payment for your rental.
  • Some locations may not accept debit cards. In this case, you will be required to present what the rental location considers to be acceptable forms of credit ID. All other information (such as name and billing information) must match the information on the credit card initially used. You will need a valid driver's license and it may be subject to verification from the state of insurance.
  • This card will be pre-authorized for the full amount of the estimated rental along with a security deposit. Any unused funds secured on your debit card will be released when you return the car, and the charge may take up to 10 business days to appear on your bank statement.
For Visitors Outside of US & Canada
  • You must stop at the rental counter before picking up your car.
  • Present a Non-U.S. Passport AND a Non-U.S. Driver's License OR present a U.S. Passport and U.S. Driver's License and an International Airline Ticket.

Please Note: Once your credit information is entered and the reservation is confirmed, you cannot modify this card information.
