How can I get a copy of my receipt from a recent rental? 

There are two ways in which you can get a rental receipt. You can select Get a Receipt from the top of the navigation on the Avis.com Home Page or you can login to your My Avis Account.

Follow these steps: 

  1. Select the country in which your reservation was made. 
  2. Enter your last name
  3. Enter your Reservation Confirmation number

Your Reservation Confirmation number is provided to you when your reservation is made. The confirmation number is an eight digit code followed by two letters and one more number totaling 11 alpha/numeric characters (example: 12345678US1). Your reservation information was sent to your e-mail address which was identified while your reservation was created. Click Get Receipt

You can view your rental receipts after logging in to My Avis. Click the View Receipt link located under the Past Rentals section. We will keep copies online for up to six months from date of vehicle return. If you need to access older receipts, please call 1-800-331-1212 for assistance.

Please allow up to 7 days from date of vehicle return for a copy of the rental receipt to be available.

Who can rent a car at AVIS under the RTX contract?

The rates and discounts in the Avis Contract include persons, who at the time of vehicle rental are:

  • RTX employees with a valid driver's license and are at least 18 years of age.
  • The legally married spouse of a RTX employee with a valid driver's license and are at least 18 years of age. Click Here to complete the authorization letter, and present it at the rental counter when picking up your next rental.
  • Parents, children, stepchildren and siblings of RTX employees are eligible for all contract terms EXCEPT LDW (Loss Damage Waiver) insurance and indemnification provisions. Avis recommends that renters confirm their insurance coverage offering with their personal insurance company and/or, personal credit card or purchase the coverage from Avis).   • RTX Retirees are eligible for all contract terms EXCEPT LDW insurance and indemnification provisions as provided. Avis recommends that renters confirm their insurance coverage offering with their personal insurance company, personal credit card or purchase the coverage from Avis).
  • Consultants/contractors of RTX that are reimbursed by RTX for charges incurred for rental vehicles supplied under this agreement are eligible for rate and insurance coverage.

Who else can drive the vehicle/ Authorized Drivers?

"Authorized Driver" shall mean a RTX Employee who is at least 18 years old and possesses a valid driver's license; or any person properly listed as an additional driver on the front of the rental agreement executed at the time of vehicle rental who is not a RTX employee, is at least twenty-five years old and possesses a valid driver's license; or valet parking attendants while parking the rental vehicle at commercial establishments and those persons operating the rental vehicle during an imminent life-threatening emergency who are at least 18 years old and possess a valid drivers license.

Note: Renters must be 25 years or older to use a Debit card as a form of payment (see Requirements for Renting)

What if I arrive at the counter and AVIS is out of vehicles, even though I have a reservation?

Identify yourself as a RTX Employee. The Staff will recognize the importance of handling your needs with priority. If no vehicle is available within one hour after you arrive at the counter, reasonable alternate transportation (agreed upon by you and Avis) will be provided to get to your destination and a car will be delivered to you when it becomes available. 

What if I arrive at the counter and AVIS is out of vehicles, and I had no reservation?

Identify yourself as a RTX Employee. The Staff will recognize the importance of handling your needs quickly and efficiently. Avis will assist you with getting the transportation needed to get to your destination.

What if the size vehicle I reserved is not available? 

Avis will provide you with a complimentary upgrade at no additional cost.

How do I recognize that my reservation is booked for Preferred Member?

The words PEXP will appear at the end of the reservation #. i.e. 1234-5678-US1-PEXP

What if my plans change and I now have to return the vehicle to an alternate location?

Please notify the Avis location where the vehicle was initially rented. The phone number appears on the top of the rental document. Please refer to the "one-way" rental section for more information.

Can I still rent a vehicle if I find I don't have my driver's license with me?

It is illegal to drive without a valid driver's license. Avis will work with you if there are unusual extenuating circumstances that do not violate state or federal laws. In some cases, if the distance is not too great and staffing permits, Avis will try to provide transportation to your hotel or place of business.

What is a cross border rental?

A Cross-Border Rental is defined as renting a car in one country and driving to a different country. This definition applies for both round-trip rentals as well as one-way rentals where the vehicle is returned to Avis in a different country from where it was originally rented.

May I rent a car in the United States and drive it into Canada or vice versa?

With advance arrangement and consent from Avis, certain cars may be rented from the United States and driven into Canada by U.S. residents. A Canadian non-resident insurance card may be required and is available at the Avis rental location. Please call 800-230-4898 for more information. One way rentals are not permitted.

May I rent a car in the United States and drive it into Mexico or vice versa?

Yes, crossing the border is permitted but travelers will not be covered with the Loss Damage Waiver insurance for vehicles rented in the United States and brought into Mexico. Travelers who bring vehicles into Mexico from the United States must consult with Avis for Loss Damage Waiver coverage. Travelers must consult with Avis for information on one-way rentals between the United States and Mexico. Mexican Insurance is mandatory and a RTX requirement.

May I drive an Avis rental car between countries in Europe?

Crossing country borders in Europe may require additional insurance coverage and additional expense. Travelers planning to drive a vehicle outside the country from which it is rented must contact Avis for information regarding Collision Damage Waiver and Theft Protection insurance.

Travelers planning to drop vehicles off in a different country from which the vehicle is rented must contact Avis for information on all applicable charges associated with the one-way rental.

Please note: Travelers are not permitted to drive vehicles from the countries of Western Europe to or from the countries of Central Europe.

Special exceptions for Austria rentals

Vehicles rented in Austria and driven to the Czech Republic, Hungary or Slovenia are subject to additional Collision Damage Waiver and Theft Protection insurance expense. Vehicles rented in Austria for one-way rentals to these countries are subject to drop-off charges. Travelers must contact Avis for information on all applicable charges associated with these rentals.

Are there any policies about cross border rentals for the rest of the world?

RTX Travelers must contact Avis for all information on insurance coverage and charges involving cross-border one-way rentals. If you have any questions, please contact the RTX Travel Center.

What are the three fuel options that I am asked about at the counter? 

  • Option 1 (most cost effective and highly recommended) - Return the car with the same amount of fuel as it contained at the commencement of the rental and no refueling fee is imposed.
  • Option 2 - Return the car with less fuel than when rented and a refueling charge is imposed for the fuel used as provided in the rental agreement. For all rentals in the United States , Avis charges the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) national average retail unleaded regular gas fuel price per gallon plus the refueling service. The refueling service charge will vary as reflected by the DOE average on quarterly basis.
  • Option 3 - The fuel service option, available at most US rental locations and participating licensees where permitted, allows the customer to purchase, at the time of rental, a full tank of fuel at a price competitive with the prevailing local self-service gas station rates for regular, unleaded gasoline. Customers will not have to stop and fill the tank before returning, thus eliminating the possibility of missing a flight or being checked in beyond the 59-minute grace period. When customers elect to purchase this option, the savings can be significant, particularly if the intent is to drive a considerable number of miles during the course of the rental. There is no credit given for fuel remaining in the vehicle at the time the vehicle is returned, so the renter should return the car with as little fuel remaining as possible. The cost of this option will always be based on the vehicle rented, but will certainly reflect a savings when compared to the standard refueling service fee, if the car is not returned with a full tank. 

EZ Fuel: Customers who drive fewer than 75 miles pay a low flat fee for fuel and then return the car without stopping at the pump. We will automatically charge a flat fee of $13.99. This option is available on promotional rates only. In some areas, the UTC discounted fuel program in place may be less and this option would not apply.

What should I do if I am running late for a flight and don't have the time to wait in line or even go to the counter?

Roving Rapid Return is a faster, more convenient way for your travelers to return an Avis car rental. Instead of going to the counter, an Avis Roving Rapid Representative will meet you right at the car. This handheld computer produces a transaction record in a matter of seconds. Transaction records can be submitted with a company expense report.

What if the counter agent is not familiar with the RTX rate?

There is no mistaking who travelers are and what services and discounts they are entitled to when they each have their own Avis Preferred Wizard number. Think of it as your own personal profile number with Avis. The Wizard profile will identify you as a RTX employee (division specific), ensuring that you receive the correct rates and insurance coverage. If for any reason an incorrect rate is applied, please contact your respective travel office. They in turn will act on your behalf and contact Avis for appropriate adjustments and a new receipt will be faxed to you/them.

Does AVIS permit me to bypass the counter at the time of rental to speed my rental process?

Avis Preferred Service is available free of charge to all RTX renters. Renters can click on the below link to automatically enroll on-line, allows you to bypass the rental counter, and proceed directly to your car. The car will be waiting for you with the rental agreement in the front window. Exiting is as simple as handing the agreement to the agent, and showing him/her your valid driver's license. No waiting in line at the counter! In situations where you take the Avis bus to the location, the bus driver will take your information and deliver you directly to your assigned car.

How can I update my Avis Preferred profile with Avis?

If you already have an Avis Wizard number, it is very important you update your profile to your correct RTX Business Unit. If you do not, you may not be covered under the contract, will not get the proper rates, and will not automatically have the insurance coverage included in the contract. Go to the following Internet URL: www.avis.com/login. This site allows you to update your Avis profile.

Upon arriving at the airport terminal car rental pick up point, how often should I expect an Avis Bus?

Avis buses, where applicable, are scheduled to arrive at the airport terminal car rental pickup point within four (4) minutes. If you experience a delay, please return to the terminal baggage claim area and notify Avis at the counter, or pick up the designated phone at the service counter. Note for Consolidated Rental Facilities: Avis has no control over bus timings where busses are managed by the local Airport authority and wait times could be slightly longer in some instances.

What is eToll?

Avis e-Toll is our company's electronic toll collection program which makes road travel more convenient! Avis e-Toll eliminates the need for travelers to carry change or wait in long cash payment lines at toll plazas and allows Avis renters to zip through electronic toll payment lanes.

Avis e-Toll cannot be reserved in advance, but is already installed in many cars. Avis e-Toll is optional and available for a low daily fee plus the cost of tolls.

Avis e-Toll is offered in the Northeast (from Maine to North Carolina), California, Chicago Area, Colorado, Florida, Oklahoma, Texas, Washington and Puerto Rico.

How do I use Avis e-Toll?

State of Texas - Vehicles in Texas will be equipped with either video tolling capability or will be fitted with toll transponders. When an Avis vehicle passes through an EZ Tag, Toll Tag or Tx Tag based lane, the vehicle's toll charges are calculated electronically and charged to the same credit card that is used to rent the vehicle. If you use e-Toll, you will be charged a $3.95 convenience fee for each day of the rental, including any days on which e-Toll is not used, up to a maximum of $16.75 per rental month, plus incurred tolls at the cash rate. 

State of Florida - Vehicles in Florida will be equipped with either video tolling capability or will be fitted with toll transponders. When an Avis vehicle passes through a Sun-Pass Only, ePass Only, and Leeway high-speed lanes tag based lane, the vehicle's toll charges are calculated electronically and charged to the same credit card that is used to rent the vehicle. If you use e-Toll, you will be charged a $3.95 convenience fee for each day of the rental, including any days on which e-Toll is not used, up to a maximum of $16.75 per rental month, plus incurred tolls at the cash rate. 

State of Colorado - Vehicles in Colorado are equipped with a sticker tag. When an Avis vehicle passes through an Express Toll or Go-Pass lane, the vehicle's toll charges are calculated electronically and charged to the same credit card that is used to rent the vehicle. If you use e-Toll, you will be charged a $3.95 convenience fee for each day of the rental, including any days on which e-Toll is not used, up to a maximum of $16.75 per rental month, plus incurred tolls at the cash rate. 

State of California - Vehicles in California are equipped with toll transponders. When an Avis vehicle passes through Fastrak based lane, the vehicle's toll charges are calculated electronically and charged to the same credit card that is used to rent the vehicle. If you use e-Toll, you will be charged a $3.95 convenience fee for each day of the rental, including any days on which e-Toll is not used, up to a maximum of $16.75 per rental month, plus incurred tolls at the cash rate. 

State of Oklahoma - Vehicles in Oklahoma are equipped with toll transponders. When an Avis vehicle passes through PikePass based lane, the vehicle's toll charges are calculated electronically and charged to the same credit card that is used to rent the vehicle. , If you use e-Toll, you will be charged a $3.95 convenience fee for each day of the rental, including any days on which e-Toll is not used, up to a maximum of $16.75 per rental month, plus incurred tolls at the cash rate. 

State of Washington - Vehicles in Washington are equipped with video tolling. When an Avis vehicle passes through a Good to Go! toll lane the vehicle's toll charges are calculated electronically and charged to the same credit card that is used to rent the vehicle. If you use e-Toll, you will be charged a $3.95 convenience fee for each day of the rental, including any days on which e-Toll is not used, up to a maximum of $16.75 per rental month, plus incurred tolls at the cash rate. 

How do I get a receipt? How do I view my charges and Avis etoll activity online?

Customers can access a receipt online and view their toll activity at e-tolls.com. Renter has (2) options in looking up a rental receipt: by Credit Card Number or Rental Agreement. Please allow up to 30 business days from the rental end date to have your receipt posted to the website. If a renter has been charged on their credit card and a receipt does not appear, please call 1-866-642-2000. Travelers can also sign up to receive e-toll receipts at the email address included in their Avis Preferred profile.

How do I pay for e-Toll service?

Your credit card on file with the rental agreement will be charged automatically when the toll authority processes the payment. Toll charges will be applied after the rental car is returned, up to 30 days after the rental has closed.

Why I am being charged a $3.95 per rental day daily use fee?

Customers will be charged the standard non-discounted fee for the roads as published by the toll authority plus the convenience fee of $3.95 per rental day for each and every day of your rental or a maximum of $16.75 for use of this service. (this rate is subject to change)

How is the daily administrative fee charged and calculated?

Why should I be interested in Avis e-Toll?

Speed and convenience. When you utilize Avis e-Toll you don't need to wait in long lines to pay cash so you can get where you are going faster. 

How do I sign up for e-Toll?

Majority of vehicles are equipped with Toll transponders. Customers who wish to rent a vehicle with a toll transponder should request a vehicle at the time of reservation or at the rental counter. When driving an Avis vehicle, renters will opt-in to using Avis e-Toll when they swing open the transponder box and expose the actual transponder when traveling on toll roads. 

What if I lock the keys in the car or lose them? 

Call the Avis location where you rented the vehicle. Depending on Distance and time, you may be given the key codes to have the keys made at a local dealership, or a set of keys will be driven/sent out to you. Fees may apply.

What is the procedure should problems occur with my vehicle? 

Avis provides 24-hour-a-day roadside assistance. the number for the Avis Emergency Roadside Assistance Department in the U.S. is 800-354-2847. Instructions as to what to do in case of an accident or mechanical problem are found on the rental agreement jacket folder.

Can I earn frequent flyer miles on corporate rentals? 

No, as per the corporate rate agreement, frequent flyer miles may not be earned on rentals made using the corporate AWD A551100 and all divisions.

Are there any requirements for car rentals in France?

France requires all motor vehicles to have a breathalyzer on hand. All motorists, including those in rental cars, should have a breath alcohol testing instrument on hand. If a driver is pulled over by police for some reason and is found not to have the kit in their car, the fine will be €17.00 ($23.00 USD). 

All Avis & Budget vehicles will be equipped with two breathalyzers located in the glove compartment. Clients will be informed by the associates of their location. There is no charge for the device.

Are there any requirements for car rentals in Italy?

Requirements to Rent Car Groups H, L and O.

Renters renting car group H and L must present two (2) credit cards. One credit card must be an American Express or Diners card. Both cards must be issued by a different card scheme/logo. 

Russian residents booking in Russia and renting car group H, L and O must present one Avis-honored gold charge card and a passport, entry visa and return airline ticket or ship ticket back.

Accepted Cards: Avis Charge Cards -American Express, Diners Club, MasterCard / Eurocard, Visa (Visa Electron Card is not accepted).
