What are the benefits of using myWhere2" trip planning?
By using myWhere2" trip planning, you have all of your destinations on an SD Memory Card, ready to insert in your Avis where2" unit once you get in your rental car. You can plan your trip online in the comfort of your own home. No more printing sheets of paper with addresses and directions, simply save the addresses to an SD card to be used in your Avis where2" unit.
What is an SD Card and how do I get one?
Secure Digital cards are small memory devices that can be inserted into some electronic products, such as camcorders. They are used for storing digital media like audio, video, or picture files. If you don't have an SD card, they're inexpensive and can be purchased at any electronics store.
Can I use myWhere2" navigation with any vehicle?
Since the Avis where2 unit can be used in any vehicle, this online trip planning can be used in any vehicle as well.
Do I need to subscribe to any type of service?
No, there is no subscription required for the myWhere2" Trip Planning service.
What is the Garmin Communicator Plug-in and how do I install it?
The Garmin Communicator Plug-in is a one-time installation that enables you to use the trip planning service. This is a free download and takes seconds to install.
Which browsers does the Communicator Plug-insupport?
IBM-compatible PCs running Windows® 2000, XP or Vista operating systems with Internet Explorer 6+ or Firefox 1.5+. Mac Support is coming soon.
How much does it cost to use myWhere2" Trip Planning?
The only fee associated with the use of myWhere2 trip planning is the daily rental fee for the Garmin GPS unit. Currently, it starts at $13.95/day to rent this unit. To make a reservation with GPS, click here!
Which Web sites or search engines can I use to send destinations to my GPS unit?
myWhere2" Trip Planning is easy and convenient because you can use virtually any Web site to send destinations to your SD card. Visit the Web site for your hotel to find its address, look up the location of your favorite restaurant, or find the address of your meeting tomorrow - then send all these addresses to your SD card.
Is there a limit to the number of destinations I can send or download to my vehicle?
The Avis where2 unit can support 500 "Favorite" locations. For SD Cards, the amount of destinations stored can vary depending on they type of card you have.
How do I edit or delete destinations after I have sent them to my vehicle?
To edit a destination once it is displayed on your Avis where2®, just follow the steps below:
- Select the destination from the Favorites menu
- Once you see the name of the destination and a green "Go!" button, tap on the "Edit &" button on the bottom right of the screen.
- The next screen will show you the name of the location. You can select "Change Name" to edit the destination, and "Delete" to delete the destination.
Will all of my destinations download simultaneously when I insert my SD Card?
Yes.
Once downloaded, can I store my destinations to use them again in the future? If so, how?
Once you save your locations to your SD card, they are saved on your card until you delete them. The Favorites in your Avis where2 unit will be erased when you return the unit to the Rental Location, so there's no worry that others will see your destinations. NOTE: At this time, Avis where2 units erase the SD card when it is removed from the unit. A new unit will be available in the near future that will not erase stored information from the SD Card.
How long will my information be stored?
Your destinations will be erased from the Avis where2 after you return it to the rental location. This is our standard practice.
How do I retrieve my destinations once I've inserted my SD card?
You can access the destinations on your SD card by selecting "Where to," then "Favorites." Once you've selected Favorites, you should see all of the destinations stored on your SD card.
Does the ignition in my rental car need to be turned on in order to view my information?
No, your ignition does not need to be on to view your information. The Avis where2 must be turned on for you to view your information.
How accurate is the route guidance if I use the destination that is sent to the vehicle?
The Avis where2 will route information to your destination as accurately as it would any location preloaded into the unit.
