| Soccer-ball donation program kicks into high gear in August
|

Parsippany, NJ Aug 6, 2002 - Beginning in August, Avis Rent A Car System, Inc. will kick-off a national soccer ball donation campaign to support Special Olympics programs and athletes through its "Avis Cares® about Community" program.
 Running from August through October 30, the promotion invites customers to send a "We Try Harder" Avis-Special Olympics branded soccer ball to Special Olympics athletes. Each $10.00 that customers send through Avis will cover the cost of both a soccer ball and a $2.00 cash contribution to Special Olympics.
To heighten customer awareness and provide an easy means to send the $10, Avis will provide a brochure/self-mailer along with every rental agreement presented at Avis counters throughout the United States. Avis customers will also have an opportunity to participate in the soccer ball drive by visiting avis.com or specialolympics.org.
All Avis customers who participate in the promotion will receive a coupon back from Avis good for up to $20.00 off on their next car rental. As an added bonus, Avis will donate an
additional $2.00 to Special Olympics for any Avis car reservation made online originating from any www.specialolympics.org website.
